This summer, 27 NECC staff members stepped up to share their original research at the annual Simmons University The Gwen Ifill School of Media, Humanities, and Social Sciences Applied Autism Research poster session.

The evening was a celebration of the work, learning, and dedication our staff bring to their professional growth and to the students they support every day.

A special congratulations to all of our presenters for sharing their research, and to Libby Sibbio and Ryan Massey on receiving the Outstanding Poster Award! 🎉

August is National Wellness Month, a perfect time to pause, reset, and prioritize wellness.

NECC staff recently did just that during a relaxing Sound Bath with Gina Cranford, a Gendai Reiki Master and Certified Bliss Bowls Sound Healing Practitioner. Using singing bowls and other sound-healing instruments, Gina created a peaceful space for staff to unwind, recharge, and reflect, and ended the session with a mindful message.

Thank you, Gina, for sharing your gifts with our staff! 🧘‍♀️

Congratulations to our incredible runners who completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race (FRR) this past Sunday. The energy on race day was amazing and their dedication and determination were no match for the hills and the heat. Not only did they rock the course, Team NECC raised $41,500 and counting, all of which will support NECC students and programs!

A special thank you to our amazing runners, their families, and the FRR Numbers for Nonprofits Program for making this opportunity possible, and to Waterfly Originals for providing our team with running belts and helping us carry what we needed to the finish line.

Together, what we carry forward helps us cross the finish line and creates an even bigger impact. 💙👟

Congratulations to Michaela McMillan, MSEd, for being nominated for this week's Staff Spotlight!

Michaela, a Lead Teacher/Coordinator in our partner classroom program in Barnstable, MA, has worked at NECC for four years. She was nominated for Staff Spotlight by a colleague, “because Michaela is always advocating for her students while at the same time educating staff members who may not be familiar with the NECC partner program. She is always putting student needs first, and that is at the forefront of her decision-making. Even when going through more challenging times in the classroom, the students' well-being and education always took precedence.”

Summer at NECC wouldn’t be complete without an on-site field trip!

Students enjoyed a science lesson exploring local wildlife, examining bird feathers and fossils, and even meeting Boxy the Turtle!

Thank you, Chris and Mass Audubon, for turning our student library into a wildlife sanctuary! 🐢🔍
