Brother Brock gave a presentation on how Christmas had devolved into an almost completely secular event that resembled Mardi Gras and had more to do with being inebriated and pranking people then it did spending time with family and honoring Christ.
Different influences such as that of Charles Dickens helped remind people what Christmas was about and that they should be giving and not expecting to receive.

Bro. Jonathan gave an exciting presentation on the HMS Victory.
Built in 1758, she is the oldest naval vessel still in commission.
Victory is best known for her role as Horatio, Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 1805.
She is still manned by a crew centuries later.
The Victory also inspired the book Master and Commander.

Yesterday, Miss Jennifer Smally gave a presentation on the life of Peter Marshall.
A Scottish pastor who found himself inches from death one night. In gratitude for sparing his life, Pastor Marshall gave his life to God and sailed over to America where he made a big splash in Washington D.C. and helped in the war effort during WW2.
He was known for his beautiful sermons that would make people feel as if they were really in the places that he was describing. He was a very gifted preacher. He died at a young age after living a full life that would leave an impact on generations.

Bro. Jonathan gave an energetic and fun presentation on the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago.
It took 12,000 workers 3 years to prepare.
To compete with the Eiffel Tower which was debuted at the Paris World Fair, the Americans set out to come up with "great ideas"
Including A 4000 ft tower that had a 200 person passenger car which would fall 2000 feet before bungee cordes stopped it at the bottom. For safety? A 2 ft pile of feathers!
The Faris wheel, H.H Holmes, and some tasty World's Fair treats made for one entertaining program!

Following a wonderful youth Sunday service, Bro. Kelly Smally gave a presentation about United States Marine Corps major Donnie Dunagan.
This hardboiled warrior endured horrific injuries and preformed many brave acts for which he was rewarded, all while keeping little secret.
One day his wife discovered a news clipping announcing major Dunagan being chosen to voice the beloved character Bambi when he was a little boy! He was rather fond of Mr. Disney.
Next time you get the chance to see this adorable film, remember that that is the voice of a future American hero.

Today in Cronicles of Grace we learned how to utilize the ancient Grecian method of memorization known as a "Mind Palace".
We can use this simple and effective method to learn many things in history (and also our books of the Bible). πππ¨βππ©βπ

Bro. Joshua Smally gave an amazing presentation titled "life according to Darrel".
He went through every year since Pastor Stacy was born and showed us what historic events took place through PowerPoint.
It was amazing to see what Pastor Stacey remembered ( he had a flag to wave whenever he remembered it in real life). He remembered when President Eisenhower was in office, when Apollo 11 landed, and when gas was $1 a gallon!

Mrs. Warren presented a patriotic program on the history of the U.S Flag.
We all got our own little flag.
Just in time for the 4th of July πΊπ²

Brother Kelly Smally gave us an extremely interesting and hilariously ironic biographical history on Lord Timothy Dexter.
From beginning to end his life was a bizarre adventure; involving great wealth, unlikely success, failed sabotage, and no small degree of uncanny behavior.
Researching this on your own would be well worth the time.
We also got pickles for giveaways in reference to the book Lord Dexter wrote "a pickle for the knowing ones".

Miss Anna Jarvis stood and proclaimed that we should have a day to honor the achievements of mothers.
In 1914 President Woodrow Wilson signed a measure officially establishing the second Sunday in May as Motherβs Day.
We are very glad that we have been given a special day to show a little extra love and appreciation for one of God's most beautiful creations, our mothers. β€οΈ

Our very own carpet salesman Stephen spoke on the history of carpet.
From animal rugs in bible times, to Robert Shaw the 80 year old founder of the third largest flooring company.
Did you know: France was buying so much imported carpet that they were going bankrupt, so King Henry IV had a factory made in his kingdom, but he liked the rugs so much that he kept them all for himself!
