"If you're dreaming of becoming the next J. Rowling, we've got the perfect place for you—the Southampton Children's Literature Conference."
– School Library Journal
The Southampton Children's Literature Conference provides a unique forum in which to study and discuss the craft of writing for children. World-renowned authors, illustrators and editors offer inspiration and guidance through worksho
ps, lectures, group discussions and special presentations. Open to new, established and aspiring writers, the Conference takes place in July and is located in the Hamptons at the Eastern End of New York's Long Island—a resort area of natural beauty. The Children's Literature Fellows are 12 serious children's book writers who receive a year-long course of instruction that is customized, affordable, comprehensive, and professionally useful. Fellows work independently with our outstanding faculty and, twice a year, come together as a cohort, once in July during the Summer Conference and a second time in January for a special Publishing and Editing Conference. Children’s Lit Fellows receive Advanced Certificates in Creative Writing from Stony Brook Southampton's MFA in Creative Writing and Literature.
