Students at Southampton Intermediate School recently participated in a schoolwide Social Emotional Learning Day centered around the themes of leadership, kindness and community service.
As part of the day’s events, students attended an engaging assembly with the Eagle Academy that focused on the theme of the day. Following the assembly, they took part in grade-level breakout sessions that encouraged meaningful discussions about what it means to be a leader both inside and outside of school.
Students also undertook a variety of community service projects in their school and throughout Southampton Village and the surrounding community. For the projects, they partnered with Rogers Memorial Library, Heart of the Hamptons, Southampton Village Ambulance, Southampton Village Police Department, Southampton Fire Department and Southampton Village Hall. They also participated in a beach cleanup initiative and in-school projects, which included cleaning up the school garden, organizing the school’s lost and found, sorting clothing donations for a clothing drive and creating positive messages for the school community. Additionally, one group of students visited Southampton Elementary School, where they helped teachers prepare for the school’s upcoming art show and created uplifting messages for younger students throughout the building.
Southampton Intermediate School extends its sincere appreciation to all the local organizations, community leaders, faculty and staff members who helped make the day such a meaningful and impactful experience for students.
