Register now for our upcoming workshop! August 21, 22, 23 – Folk Art from Around the Globe

Artists will travel the globe learning about the artwork created by self taught local artists and tribes. Traditional Kuna molas, the shacks of Beverly Buchanan, leather tooled stories by Winfred Rembert, the quilts of Gee’s Bend and more. Students will reflect on art making and the importance of the creative process for everyone.

Summer Art Camps are back at L’Atelier 5! This summer we are doing 1- three day camp session per month, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2-5pm. This is the perfect time to steal away...

Modern day mosaics.

Byzantium and . . . Hip-Hop? Fourteen centuries after the works on display in our “Byzantium and Islam: Age of Transition” exhibition were created, Byzantine art is flourishing where you might least expect it: the streets of New York. That's where artist Manny Vega displays his large-scale mosaics of saints, heroes, dancers, and conga-drumming angels, all made using true Byzantine techniques.

Altered Book workshop June 26th through the 28th from 2-5pm. Let your young artist create a book that is a reflection of themselves at this point in time. We will look at Sabrina Ward Harrison's work and her book Spilling Open to inspire this autobiographical creative art piece. Ages 5 & up.

Sabrina Ward Harrison makes images that collaborate with this living world - working with it, seeing into it, being inspired by it and creating for it. The landscape of our living is what she presents –- a landscape that unfolds through color, culture, depth of field and slanted light.
