From Pam Doane Viegas...............

With overwhelming sadness, my sister, Priscilla ( Doane ) Gregoire, passed to a better life this morning! We want to thank all who have reached out with their love and kindness as we went through this time.

The Doanes lived 4 doors over from our house on Pleasant Street.

OBITUARY
John J. Pupa
JUNE 23, 1959 – MAY 11, 2024
Obituary of John J. Pupa
IN THE CARE OF
Doane Beal & Ames
John J. Pupa, 64, of Marstons Mills and Viera, FL passed away peacefully on May 11th at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston with family by his side after complications from an organ transplant.

He was the son to Joan (Kelliher) and Stephen Pupa Sr. A lifelong resident of Massachusetts, John was born in Milton and lived in Duxbury until moving to the Cape in 1973. John graduated from Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School in 1977 where he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Lisa.

John was a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Long Island, NY. He continued on to serve in the United States Naval Reserve until 1997 when he retired as a Commander. John was a proud veteran and anyone who knew him, knew his love and extreme devotion to our country.

He started his career working for Clipper and American Cruise lines as a First Officer. Continuing on to Cumberland Farms as an Area Supervisor. For the last 30 years, John was a Certified Financial Planner for Ameriprise Financial. He loved working with his clients towards their financial goals and took great pride in his work. His clients, many of whom became like family, recently celebrated John’s retirement in March 2022 prior to his liver and kidney illnesses.

After a few years of health complications, John received a double organ transplant at Beth Israel on September 11, 2023. He was given a second chance at life and was ecstatic to be present for the birth of his grandson, Wesley John, who is named after him. Unfortunately his life was cut too short and John experienced complications that took his life far too quickly. His sense of humor, loving and caring demeanor, knowledge, loyalty, and strength, will be deeply missed by many.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Lisa. His daughter, the light of his life, Kaitlin (Scott) Bowersox and grandson Wesley, father Stephen Pupa Sr. of Barefoot Bay, FL, sisters Mary Sears and Janice (John) Bowman of Palm Bay, FL, brother Stephen (Michelle) Pupa Jr of Forest Hill, MD, sister in law Cre Dorey of Hyannis, MA and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loving dog and loyal companion, Kenzie, whom never left his side during his most recent illness. He is predeceased by his mother, Joan Pupa, mother and father in law, Barbara and Francis Dorey, and brother-in-law Bill Sears.

John loved Boston sports, specifically soccer, and was a devoted fan of the New England Revolution. He loved to travel, cook, and spending time enjoying life with his family and friends. Nothing brought more joy to John’s life than his wife and daughter. The three of them shared a beautiful bond and the void that has been left is truly indescribable.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Tunnels to Towers Foundation. An organization John immensely loved and supported.

A visitation for John will be held Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 230 S Main St, Centerville, MA
