Field Day on June 24th was a great success! Students spent the day competing, collaborating, and showing incredible school spirit across a full lineup of events including the sack race, three-legged race, discus, softball throw, hamster wheel, chained-together obstacle course, long jump, water balloon toss, relay race, tug-of-war, and the 50-yard dash.

Students gave their best effort in every event, cheered each other on, and demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day. Field Day awards were presented on the last day of school, recognizing top performers in each event, Overall Place winners, and the group with the most spirit.

A huge thank you to all staff who helped make the day run smoothly, with special recognition to Mr. Freeman and Mrs. Cook for their leadership, planning, and dedication in putting together such a memorable event.

A great way to wrap up the school year!

Celebrating Student Achievement: Term 3 and End-of-Year Awards Night

Congratulations to our 6th and 7th grade students who were recognized during our Term 3 and End-of-Year Awards Night on June 23!

We are so proud of the many ways our students have grown and excelled this year. Awards were presented across academics, the arts, athletics, leadership, character, and personal growth, including honors recognition, outstanding academic achievement, most improved, humanitarian efforts, creativity, and excellence in music, art, world languages, ELA, math, science, and social studies.

We also celebrated students for their positive contributions to our school community through awards such as Positive Spirit Builder, Dolphin Navigator, Pod Leader, and more, along with recognition for perseverance, growth, and school pride.

A heartfelt congratulations to all award recipients for their hard work and dedication this year. Your efforts truly make our school community stronger.

Dennis-Yarmouth Middle School recently hosted its annual Career Day on Thurday, June 18th, giving students the opportunity to explore a wide range of careers and future pathways. During the morning, 34 guest speakers from professions including healthcare, engineering, public safety, education, law, business, technology, the arts, and more rotated through classrooms, sharing their experiences and advice with students.

After the morning sessions, students enjoyed a midday celebration featuring a dance party and snow cones.

The afternoon featured a Pathways Expo with students and representatives from Cape Cod Regional Technical High School and Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. Students learned about academic and career-focused opportunities available in high school and heard firsthand experiences during a student panel discussion.

A special thank you goes to all of our presenters, high school partners, staff, and volunteers who helped make this year’s Career Day a fun, engaging, and inspiring experience for our students.

🌎 Model UN: A Galaxy-Wide Mission to Save Earth! 🚀

This year's 6th Grade Model UN event was a huge success! Students participated in an immersive, school-wide simulation where they represented countries, delivered speeches, negotiated with fellow delegates, drafted resolutions, and voted on solutions to a global crisis: defeating the Imperial Death Star!

This year's Star Wars-themed scenario blended international diplomacy with an original story centered on artificial intelligence, a humanitarian crisis, and the fate of Earth. Through formal debate, informal negotiations, and a final vote, students put their research, public speaking, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills into action as they worked together to solve the crisis.

We are incredibly proud of our delegates for their engagement, creativity, and commitment throughout the event. The future of global leadership is bright!

🐋 7th Grade Whale Watch Adventure 🐋

On Tuesday the 16th, our 7th grade students headed out on a whale watch from Barnstable Harbor. Students spent the day on the water exploring the local marine environment and observing whales and other sea life in their natural habitat.

This hands-on experience gave students the chance to connect their classroom learning in science to real-world ocean ecosystems. Along the way, they deepened their understanding of marine life, animal behavior, and conservation while taking in an unforgettable view of the waters off Cape Cod.

A great day of learning, exploration, and making lasting memories outside the classroom.
