South Windsor Friends of the Public Library Our mission is to support library activities; to help publicize library events and issues, and to develop a supportive, informed group of Friends.

Friends of SWPL are part of Friends of Libraries USA and Friends of Connecticut Libraries. Our mission as Friends is to support library activities; to help publicize library events and issues, and to develop a supportive, informed group of Friends. We now have over 200 members. We raise funds primarily through book sales, trips, and membership dues as well as from foundations and memorial gifts. F

Our biggest fundraiser is the Friends of the South Windsor Public Library Book Sale. Join us and browse our huge selection of donated, gently used books, DVDs, audio books, and music CDs at bargain prices. We have all genres for all ages. The Friends Book Sale is open twice per week year round on Tuesdays 9:15 AM - 6:00 PM and Saturdays 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM during school year and 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM Summer Hours effective July 2023.

You are invited to attend the Friends of the SWPL 2026 Annual Meeting and Salad Luncheon on June 9, 2026 (Tuesday) at Noon in the Friends Room (upper level) of the South Windsor Public Library. Please bring a salad and serving utensil that will serve 4 - 6 for our salad buffet. Dessert and beverage will be provided by the Friends. Guest Speaker is Susan Campbell, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, a widely read newspaper columnist and the author of 3 books.
