The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was founded on the 23rd of June 1939. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is the civilian, uniformed volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard. The Auxiliary was founded in 1939 by an Act of Congress as the US Coast Guard Reserves and re-designated the Auxiliary in 1941. The 33,000 volunteer members (men and women) donate millions of hours in

support of Coast Guard missions, such as Search & Rescue, Public Education, Marine Environmental Protection and Maritime Domain Awareness.
