Got to check off one of my bucket list items since becoming a pilot.
I’ve always wanted to see the surf ballroom where Buddy Holly played his last show. So a student of mine who recently received his private pilot license, Tim and I flew to Mason City IA and landed at the very same airport where the flight that killed Buddy, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper took off from. Then we drove to the surf and out to the crash site itself, it was an awesome flight and such an interesting visit. Tim actually has played the surf and has his name is in the green room which was awesome and he had some great stories.
If you ever get a chance and you’re a music fan you definitely need to check it out.

The EAA has a fantastic program called Young Eagles where kids can get a free airplane ride as well as other great opportunities to learn about aviation.

Today I had the honor of participating in this great program and give 2 fantastic young men a ride in an airplane. It was absolutely amazing and hope to do it many more times in the future.

If anyone has kids from ages 8-17 and show an interest in aviation, look up a Young Eagles event in your area (they are worldwide) and get them signed up for a free airplane ride. They have given nearly 2.5 million young people their first ride in an airplane since 1992.

Amazing views flying over the top of a landing Delta flight at MSP. Only place in the world to get this view is from the cockpit of a plane that big j flight training can teach you how to fly.

Saw some great aircraft, talked to some great people at the Great Minnesota Aviation Gathering yesterday and today. There were some fantastic speakers and learned a lot from some pilots who have been around the block a lot more times than I have.

Was honored to provide Yusuf with the opportunity to get back into the cockpit after almost a four year hiatus.
