I have a Class A Child Care License from Dakota County, which allows me to care for up to 10 children. I am CPR/First Aid Certified and have completed training in SIDS, Abusive Head Trauma, Developmentally Appropriate Behavior Guidance, and Supervising for Safety. I love to read and spend a lot of time expanding my knowledge in the areas of Positive Discipline, Peaceful Parenting, Attachment Paren
ting, and Childhood Development. My mission is to offer an individual, play-based program that uses teachable moments to help children with Cognitive Development (abillity to learn and solve problems), Social and Emotional Development (interacting with others, including helping themselves and learning about self-control), Speech and Language Development (understand and use language) and Fine/Gross Motor Skills (using muscles to meet milestones and be active). I truly believe that these skills are critical to preparing children for school, therefore, I do not offer a standard pre-school ciriculum at this time.

My caregiving philosphy is based upon the principals of Attachment Parenting and Positive Discipline. "The essence of Attachment Parenting is about forming and nurturing strong connections between parents and their children. Attachment Parenting challenges us as parents to treat our children with kindness, respect and dignity, and to model in our interactions with them the way we'd like them to interact with others." -Attachment Parenting International. To preserve the bond your child and I have established, I keep my program small. This allows me to provide the individualized attention your child craves and deserves. Our day begins with breakfast together at the table, followed by free play while I cleanup and prepare for our morning activity. Weather and schedule permitting, we try go outside every day for fresh air and exercise. After our morning activity, we ususally watch an educational program quietly while the infants start their naps and lunch is prepared. After lunch we love to read stories and snuggle up to prepare for naptime. The children will either nap or do a quiet activity until about 3:30pm, when we get ready for our afternoon snack. We might head to the park nearby or play a game in the backyard. We love to take walks around the neighborhood. Afterwards, we'll come inside for a relaxing activity until it's time to go home. Indoor and outdoor activities include games, puzzles, scavenger hunts, reading, dancing, dramatic play, artistic and much more.
