📣A SPECIAL & IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL, CARLENE LYDIC 📣
Dear Hutchison Farm Families,
Our playground is a special place where our students learn, play, build friendships, and make memories every day. But as many of our families and staff have shared, there is one important thing our playground is missing: shade.
Providing additional shade on our playground has been an ongoing request and priority from both our families and staff. We are excited to share that we are taking the next steps toward making this a reality!
☀️ Our Goal: $20,000 for Playground Shade
Thanks to the tremendous support of our Hutchison Farm community, the PTA and school have already been able to contribute approximately $47,000 toward this project! We are now asking our entire school community to help us raise an additional $20,000 to continue moving this project forward.
Because this is a significant project, the installation will be completed in phases. Every dollar we raise will help us take another step toward creating a more comfortable, shaded outdoor space for our students and staff.
💚 Every Fundraiser Will Help Us Reach Our Goal
From now through winter break, proceeds from our PTA fundraising events will contribute toward our playground shade goal, including:
🎉 Bingo Night
⛸️ Ice Skating Night
🏈 Washington Commanders Game Fundraiser
🍽️ Spirit Dining Nights
NOTE: To support our playground shade project, families will temporarily receive text message reminders about upcoming spirit dining nights. While we don’t typically send text reminders for these events, these dining nights directly support our goal, and we want to maximize participation by making sure families are aware of each opportunity to support the project. Every meal purchased during a dining night helps bring us closer to providing a cooler, more comfortable outdoor environment for our students!
And other opportunities throughout the campaign
We also welcome direct donations through our PTA website. Whether you are able to give $5, $25, $100, or more, every contribution brings us closer to our goal.
Please consider sharing this campaign with your family members, grandparents, friends, neighbors, and anyone who loves Hutchison Farm. When our community comes together, small contributions can make a big difference.
🏆 A Little Friendly Competition!
We are also adding some extra fun to the campaign! The grade level that raises the most money will earn a special prize at the end of the fundraiser. So, students—it's time to rally your classmates, families, and supporters and help your grade take the lead!

This project is an investment in our children and our school community that will benefit students and staff for many years to come. We are incredibly grateful for everything our Hutchison Farm families have already done to support our school, and we hope you will join us in reaching this next milestone.
