🎓 Congratulations, Graduates!
SMCC Athletics is proud to celebrate the Class of 2026 and all they’ve accomplished during their time at SMCC.
Congratulations!🎉
This page aims to highlight Southern Maine Community College alumni, community supporters, business partnerships, board members, and foundation events.
Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) opened in 1946 as a day school in Augusta, Maine, under the name of "Maine Vocational Technical Institute" for returning World War II veterans. An increasing enrollment and the rapid growth of various technologies necessitated more comprehensive facilities. During the summer of 1952, the Institute was moved to the site of the former Fort Preble in South Port

Maine has made free community college permanent—and that means more opportunity for students across the state.
Beginning with the Class of 2026, eligible Maine students can attend community college tuition-free, continuing a program that has already helped thousands pursue degrees and careers without the burden of tuition.
At SMCC, we see that impact every day.
“Free college made it possible for me to be here at SMCC and gives me a real path forward.” — Yana Montell, SMCC student
