Hello Everyone. We are desperately trying to hire teachers! Unfortunately, online ads have not been working very well and when prospective employees set up interviews, rarely do they show up.

If you know anyone that loves working with young children, has experience and preferably college courses or degrees in early childhood a plus, please have them email [email protected]

Thank you.

I hope you are all well. South Portland schools are closed due to the storm tomorrow and we follow their storm policy so we are also closed. Stay warm and play/shovel in the snow! See you Friday!

Hello Everyone:

We just wanted to reach out to say we have limited openings in all of our programs and are taking applications for new children. We will be calling teachers back based on staffing needs so the sooner we have commitments the better.

Also, with the uncertainty of public schools schedules for students returning to in class learning or on-line or strange schedules, parents have been opting to keep their children in our programs. We have the ability to continue your children's learning through primary grades and the children that have stayed through ages 6 and 7 have been placed appropriately at their grade level or above when returning to mainstream or private schools.

Please let us know if this interests you with this uncertain school year quickly approaching!

We are happily open again and things have been going well. We have lots of our teachers back and will be ready to bring back more when we have more kids!

We have openings now in all of our programs. We can provide virtual tours and answers questions via email or telephone. This is a great opportunity to pick up slots that were not available prior to the Covid shut down.

Looking forward to meeting new families to join our little school community!

We will be reopening the school on June 1 using all the new state guidelines for COVID 19. This is based on the gov. decision to bring people back to work which may change based on negative effects of community health outbreaks. I also sent an email to everyone that is currently enrolled. If you are on our waiting list feel free to contact us for future openings.

We are all anxious to get back to the new "normal" and see our little friends again!

Hello Everyone:

Please bear with me at this very difficult time. I am working from my kitchen table with no support staff. I have been responding to parents, teachers, trying to keep up with the latest developments on a state and national level. I am trying to put together a new group email, however, what might take some else 5 minutes to do, can take me much longer as I am using a new to me email platform. I have also had to stock up my home to "shelter in place" and I live alone, and stock up on my medications, as I have asthma. I truly apologize for not being able to communicate as quickly as possible, so it is much faster to post here.

They passed a deal last night for a very big financial package for everyone affected. The Maine gov. website has not been updated since Monday, so I don't know exactly what it is. I am involved with updates from the state and will be participating in a online conference tomorrow so that we can be updated on critical details as it applies to child care.

I will say, which you can look up on Maine Gov. under Corona Virus, there are a lot of details for employees, as well as who will be paid for what and risk ratings for all industries. It looks as though day care centers are a very high risk due to OSHA standards and as a result is allowed to give parents the out the need for now. The payout, as was listed on Monday provides parents affected by the virus as a result of schools and day care being closed 2/3rd of your income to be able to pay their normal child care which would be used to run payroll as normal and help pay operating costs so that when we get done with this everyone and all bills are paid as though the virus never happened. Again, I will update everyone as soon as I know more and if this is actually happening.

The other big question is how long is it going to take. They say they are going to do it fast?!

Regarding the questions of how long do I have to pay the school and keep their child's spot when we open back up has been stressful, so I would like to restate our policy.

As I believe I wrote in my last post, we have been told that parents are expected to pay as they are expected to for snow day closures. This virus was no fault of our school and we followed the guidelines to close and shelter in place to reduce exposure. On Monday of last week almost everyone voluntarily kept their kids at home in fear of the virus as well some staff being nervous.

Our school is open 52 weeks a year, 50 hours per week, to help parents as much as possible. Many day care providers close for 2 scheduled weeks per year and parents are expected to pay their providers. The state also allows 2 weeks paid vacation to providers. The theory here is that providers deserve 2 weeks paid vacation just like other employers provide to employees in there benefit package. The school also pays teachers for 1 week's vacation after a year and 2 weeks after 2 years.

I feel we have been there for our families and especially now is the time to continue to pay us so we can get through the short term so that I can pay everything. For now, I have told all the employees to file for unemployment which is the safest bet because the payroll is the largest operating cost of the school. However, that still leaves all the other expenses and rent is due on April 1. There is not enough in the NAMS account to cover all the bills without tuition coming through. This is a service job with a very small margins over operating costs.

If you are still getting paid to work from home I would encourage you to pay us for as you normally will. I want all of our families to be able to come back as soon as possible. If parents don't support their providers during this time of need, providers will be forced to close, when there is already a huge supply and demand problem now.

If you receive subsidy from DHHS and have experienced hardship you need to contact your representative and they will cover parent fees. This is the responsibility of the parent and does not happen automatically!

We will get through this, the government know businesses will have be forced to close, and there is too much at stake to the entire economy if they don't put money to all individuals and small businesses.

Please email me back individually for privacy if you have told me not to bill you as we can't save spots and not get paid at the same time.

It is also important to understand what necessary services means which day care providers are in that category. This puts us in that very high risk category which means we are allowed to stay closed. What I don't know is if we are going to be forced back open because we are within just a few miles of the hospitals for the health care professionals if they don't have any family to help out. Right now, the protective gear is not available and not nearly enough tests, according to OSHA requirements and we don't have to stay open at they very high risk category. This is what I have been learning from the maine gov. website and I haven't been able to verify this, so please don't hold me to what I have read.

Thank you all for your understanding!

Hello Everyone:

I just wanted to say that I will be posting updates with the things I know and don't know about the status of our school opening again or not. It is easier at this time that families email me back with various questions and concerns as I am working by myself from home and trying to keep up with the status of what is going on at Capitol Hill regarding payments to everyone affected by this "shut down" and how long it may last. I urge each and everyone of you to pay attention to what is going on in Washington and our State of Maine. In a nutshell, no pun intended, it became more confusing after watching the Presidential Address Briefing last night, which can be seen in full on Fox, CNN or many other news networks and for those of you who don't watch TV, these networks can be screened on your devises.

Please also be aware that the State of Maine has sent child care providers recommended protocols for operation which, in my opinion, are still in complete contradiction with staying ahead of the curve with this virus that stays airborne for 3 hours before falling to the floor and can remain on surfaces for days. We would need one or two additional personnel just to take temperatures of all children every hour or two, constantly attempting to disinfect surfaces, would have to wash floors and vacuum rug every 3 hours, disinfect all playground surfaces after every group uses it. They also recommend removing all sensory tables and items. Our children at the school actively use all of the items in each classroom, this means we would actually have to take everything of the shelves for disinfection and constantly have to disinfect before
allowing another child to use it. This may be feasible with one or two children, but in group care, I don't see it possible.

Believe me, I want us to all get back to work asap so this is my questions to all of you. If we reopen when this 15 day "lock down" except essential services is over, who would be returning to our school? It also has to be understood that the school cannot be held legally responsible for the possibility that parents, children and staff, for contracting and spread the COVID 19 virus. It can also not be held responsible for what I strongly consider unsafe practices with the restrictions of staff to properly supervise and care for the individual needs of all the children.

With symptoms now being reported to be even longer then suspected, it has to be understood that if we open, every parent, child, staff and other people that all associate with, will considered to be exposed.

Our school will not survive with out parents paying and I am being told that, if your day care providers' rules are that parents are expected to pay for closings, such as snow days, they are still expected to pay for this COVID19 closing that no one was prepared for. If you are continuing to get paid by your employer, please strongly consider what our school means to you. Parents are our employers! It is vital during this huge time of question, without knowing what the government is going to do for businesses, that if you can pay us, please do. It's all over the news to support local businesses and prior to this COVID19 event, I believe parents feel that their child care is a vital service for their ability to work.

If you feel you are not going to be able to return to NAMS if we reopen because you are a teacher or your company is going to continue to have people work from home, as companies are making decisions faster then the government, and many of our parents work remotely anyway, please let me know as I have lots of new parents that want the slots and want to send their security deposits and registration fees.

Thanks and stay safe everyone!

To everybody who sees this post! We need to band together in every way possible, social media all forms of networking!!!! I’ll!

We have a crisis right now!!! The Senate has not agreed with what looked like the only way we are going to survive and get paychecks and get businesses covered fully so that they can openAgain when this is over which is going to take a very long time.. It is economic disaster for all concerned which is everybody except the 1%!!!!

This, as well as the government not imposing and understanding that this is a military maneuver that they need to an act now!!! To protect ourselves from this invisible killer!!. It is invisible until the people are affected and you see the results with your eyes! They are ignoring what the Surgeon General is saying every time he is on TV that he is telling the government we need to do what we need to do!!!

The states and governors and city officials are taking matters into their home states and cities.

Right now we have a patchwork across the country of people being told to stay home stay away from people.

Some of us are, but a lot are not. People obviously are not getting it!!

In New York City the governor wants a lockdown and the mayor said he will implement action in a week if people don’t do what the surgeon general and everybody else is pleading for them to do! He literally said a week!!!!!

People are acting like they are on vacation when continuing to go about what they would do if they didn’t have to work on a weekend or evening!!!

I am going out as little as possible I have asthma!!! I have had to go out to take care of basic things that I need to get through, what looked like was going to be a lockdown going to the end of July!!!

I have stockpiled for a long time and got as much life-saving medication for my asthma as possible!!! This disease attacks peoples lungs!!! This disease is also going to kill many people that are already trying to combat the illnesses that they have right now!!!!!In some areas People are being denied treatment for their illnesses that will ultimately produce even more death and suffering!!!

People that are out and about or not socially distancing!!! You are putting everybody in danger!!! Think about others please!!!!!!

A republican senator has the virus and was seen in the congressional gym As reported by another Republican senator!!! He was also seen in the congressional swimming pool yesterday! It appears That many Republican senators have been exposed and now suddenly President Trump feels they should be quarantined and vote from home! Owners of gyms are closed and may not be able to open again. Our school is closed and may not be able to open again!

He and the senators that are arguing are literally killing people every minute that goes by, doing nothing to mitigate the virus on a governmental level!. If he does not allow the Democratic proposal to go through ASAP that protects all workers and all small businesses, it doesn’t plead for the 1%, we are all doomed economically, as well as being exposed to life-threatening coronavirus that goes afterEvery age regardless!

What about executive privileges with powers to move heaven and earth! The President doesn’t get it when it is not about him. Remember people, he bankrupt many of his own companies and first strategy of defense it to screw everyone around him that is affected with thousands of pending lawsuits in many states as well as by cities and states.

Please make your voices heard if you agree we need action for the 99 percent of us!!

Everyone says stay safe and we will get through this. This is the hypocrisy, we the people are not going to be safe or not safe right now!!

God bless and may the Lord look out for us all!!!! Amen!!❤️😢
