A year ago, I decided I was going to move to Spain to teach English. Leaving my life in San Diego was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but it has been the adventure of a lifetime and there hasn’t bee a day that I regretted taking this chance ❤️

If you decide to do something this year it should be to teach English abroad!

Let students take the lead! I like tangents because they give students the chance to talk about what interests them, so it helps me get to know them better. At the same time, I can guide them towards the main discussion points. Moreover, this can make classes more memorable and can help students focus because they want to contribute to the “side conversation” that actually connects to the lesson plan. Although this type of class can be tricky, experience will help you guide students towards an exciting, discussion-based class.

Can you believe Segovia is 30 minutes away from Madrid! Everyone should take a day trip, I went for 5 hours and that was plenty of time!

Is the pay in Korea that much better? After exchange rates and calculating salary per teaching hour, the pay is about $17 per hour in both Spain and Korea. The big difference is work hours. Korea has the most hours and least vacation time, but housing is included. However, teachers in other programs often choose to privately tutor, and housing is not included.
