Vietnam War memorials in America

When driving around NJ today, I stopped at the Passaic County Vietnam War memorial. It is almost a full-scale replica of the one in DC, and it is the second largest monument in the country.

The last Marine to leave Vietnam has died. Juan Valdez was 88. As North Vietnamese troops closed in, he was the last Marine to board the last helicopter out of Saigon. “He was a model leader,” said one who served with him.

I was on the Princeton University campus today, and they have two memorial plaques for the Tigers killed in Southeast Asia.

The Vietnam War memorial in Hendersonville, North Carolina....

During the Vietnam War, three chaplains were awarded the Medal of Honor. One of them, Charles J. Watters, was an alum at my son's school. He was killed in action after rescuing American soldiers. There is a display honoring Major Watters at my son's high school.
