On Wednesday, April 5, five Seton Hall students from the Educational Studies Department travelled to New York for a briefing at UNESCO. The session was arranged through the partnership between the Center for the Study of Genocide and Human Rights at Rutgers University and the Educational Studies Department at Seton Hall. The visit was arranged by Dr Jim Daly and his colleague at Rutgers, Dr Nela Navarro. They are the co-conveners of the Perils and Promises of Diversity Initiative in Education. That group is affiliated with the Center for Global Education at Seton Hall University. Seton Hall students Oliver De Leon, Liz McCollum, Hannah Tate, Matthew Youngberg and Ethan Hom were joined by students from the Newark School of Global Studies Godsmark Oshuporu, and Bethzy Marie Motino-Morell, along with Ismael Khalil, teacher of Arabic. Pilar Veru, Supervisor, Office of Bilingual Education from the Newark Public Schools, and Bing,N Lin, Rutgers alumna and graduate student ,also joined the group..
The briefing was presented by Lily Grey of UNESCO. The topic of the session was education and technology, with a look at technology and hate speech. Lily Gray, UNESCO Senior Liaison Officer, NY Office (Education, Culture and Social Sciences) led the session. Seton Hall University Seton Hall University faculty joined faculty and students from Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University in an engaging conversation on the virtual bridge between both universities.

The presentation was led by Dr. Olgha (Ольга Олексіївна Тарасенко). In attendance were Dr. Maxim Matusevich, Professor and Director Russian and East European Studies Program; Dr. Nathaniel Knight, Professor of History & Department Chair; and Co-Directors of the Center for Global Education Dr. James Daly Jim Daly, Professor College of Education & Human Services and Dr. Maribel Román Maribel Roman of Xcel Mentoring Network.

We look forward to our continual partnership with Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University.
