π€β€οΈπ Happy Juneteenth!
At Weekday School, we believe knowing the full story of this country is part of what it means to raise thoughtful, justice-minded kids. Today we pause to honor that history β and the ongoing work of freedom.

The best Forest School we've ever had. πΏ
Binoculars in hand, hammocks strung between trees, art projects in the woods, long hikes, lunch eaten under the canopy. Teacher Kim led the day alongside our friends at Maplewood Outside School β
What we saw: kids working together. Kids lost in wonder. Big smiles. Sheer happiness.
Starting in September, Forest School becomes a formal part of our curriculum β not just time outside, but the forest as a classroom. Today showed us exactly what that can look like.
Ask your kids what they spotted through the binoculars. π³

Learning to sew at Weekday School.
From threading a needle for the first time, to learning on a machine to designing and making their own clothing β fabulous materials, even more outrageous imaginations, and so much joy along the way. Could we have a budding dress designer (or two) on our hands? We think yes.

From Pre-K through 5th grade, students transformed recycled and upcycled materials into something extraordinary. Wearable pieces. Fabric sculptures. Artwork made from things that would have otherwise been thrown away. The whole show was a reminder that creativity doesn't need something new β it needs imagination.
One of our favorite moments: a school-wide collaborative piece where every single child, from our youngest to our oldest, contributed. One project. Every kid. The result was exactly what you'd hope for when a whole community makes something together.
This is what art at Weekday School looks like β kids with space to imagine, experiment, and just create. No limits. No wrong answers. Just making.

Meet Bow, the "pet" dragon of the Pre-K Dragonflies classroom!
Bow came to life as part of our hands-on castle investigations. After exploring and learning about different types of dragons, the children were invited to create one of their own. Using recycled materials, papier-mΓ’chΓ©, and a whole lot of imaginationβ¦ our castleβs very own protector was born! ππ°
