Hey AIGA members!

Our chapter is excited to announce that we will be having a visiting artist, Bre McCallum, teach us about hand-lettering! This is a hands-on workshop that will explore the basics of lettering. Bre will be here from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, November 15. This event is open (and free) to current Weber State art students. Supplies will be provided for each person.

This workshop has limited space. If you're interested, you must RSVP to Alissa Hicks through email ([email protected]). Due to space, we ask that you please plan on attending the entire workshop if you sign up.

LDS Church Magazine Internship Meeting!

The LDS Church Magazines, General Publications Editing, and Seminaries and Institutes offer paid internships in editing, writing, web content, and design that give students four months of experience in print and digital writing, editorial, and publishing work. Beginning September 21, we will begin the hiring process for our winter (January–April) 2018 internships.

On Friday, September 22, at 2 p.m., we will be holding an informational meeting at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City, Utah. During the meeting, we will discuss:

* The kind of work experience a student can expect to gain during an internship
* The application process and associated deadlines
* Application and portfolio tips

We will also answer any questions students may have about the internships.

Students wishing to attend should notify Alyssa Nielsen in advance (at [email protected]) so that she can prepare visitor passes to the building for them. Those who are unable to attend but still wish to obtain information about the positions may contact her at the same address. The positions will be posted at LDS.org on September 21 and will close on October 2 at midnight.

The Ogden Downtown Alliance is looking for someone to help visually advertise events happening downtown through eye-catching design for both print and social media. Help us spread the word about the growth of Ogden's Central Business District while expanding your portfolio.

Who We Are
Ogden Downtown Alliance is committed to working alongside local businesses to promote community vibrancy and economic impact in Ogden’s Central Business District. If you've been around downtown, you've probably been to at least one of our six annual cornerstone events: Farmers Market Ogden, Historic 25th Street Car Show, Music On The Plaza, Harvest Moon Celebration, and Witchstock. We are looking for someone to join our efforts in finding creative ways to engage the community and beautify our downtown.

Who You Are
You've got Adobe down, your graphic design portfolio is growing and you've been looking for an opportunity to show off your work in the community. You have a quick turnaround time on projects and your ideal first date is a marketing brainstorming session. You can't sit through a meeting without covering your notebook in doodles and you could probably come up with marketing campaign for air if you really wanted to.
