Meet Braulio Garcia🎓

After time away from college, Braulio came back ready to finish what he started. Returning after incarceration meant readjusting to college life, finding his footing, and believing in what could come next.

With support from LTCC’s "Reconnect to Complete" program, he did just that.

This spring, Braulio graduated from LTCC. This fall, he’ll continue his studies and academic journey at his dream school, UC Berkeley. 💙

Sometimes coming back is just the beginning. Wishing him the best of luck on his bright future. ¡Si se puede!

From Lake Tahoe Community College to Capitol Hill! 💚💙

Angel Velásquez recently participated in the Active Minds Hill Day in Washington, D.C., where he served as a team lead and met with congressional staff members from across California. The group discussed student mental health, campus resources, and the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline Act.

This experience offered a firsthand look at federal advocacy and demonstrated how students’ stories can help inform policy discussions and create meaningful change.

During the past year, he also served on the 2025–2026 Active Minds Student Advisory Committee, representing LTCC at the national level and sharing feedback on mental health initiatives that impact students across the country.

LTCC is incredibly proud to have supported his involvement and can’t wait to see Angel continue this important work at Chico State!

Please join us in welcoming Russi Egan as Lake Tahoe Community College's Interim Superintendent/President. 💙

Effective August 1, Russi steps into this leadership role after serving as LTCC's Vice President of Administrative Services and bringing nearly two decades of experience within the California Community Colleges system.

As Interim Superintendent/President, Russi will focus on supporting students, faculty, staff, and the important work already underway while guiding LTCC through this leadership transition.

Every chapter leaves a lasting legacy, and Jeff’s is one that will continue to shape LTCC for years to come.

Through his leadership and dedication, he's helped strengthen LTCC, support our students, and make a meaningful impact on the entire community.

Inspired by her family's arborist business, she's building on that legacy through LTCC's Forestry program, learning how forest restoration and wildfire prevention can help protect Tahoe's forests for generations to come.

With hands-on experience and a passion for protecting the places she calls home, she's preparing for a future rooted in stewardship.
