Pharmacist & Pharmacy Technician Alert

The Rhode Island Board of Pharmacy has shared that a scam continues to affect pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Scammers are falsely notifying licensees that they are under disciplinary investigation by the RI Board of Pharmacy. Similar scams are also occurring in other states.

In some cases, scammers may claim to have a licensee’s bank account information.

Please be aware: if there is an actual complaint or disciplinary matter, you would receive an official letter or other formal communication from the Rhode Island Department of Health.

Please share this information with your pharmacy teams and colleagues to help prevent anyone from falling victim to this scam.

URI College of Pharmacy is proud to offer immunization training for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on Monday, August 24, 2026, at URI’s Kingston Campus.

These APhA certificate training programs are designed to strengthen the role of pharmacy teams in vaccine administration, improve access to immunizations, and support public health across Rhode Island and beyond.

Pharmacy teams are often among the most accessible healthcare providers in their communities. Led by University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy's expert faculty, this training helps pharmacists and technicians build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to meet patients where they are.

There are only a few classes of medications that are approved to treat gout, each with their own considerations, caveats, and safety risks. It is important when choosing a medication to treat gout in a patient that all of these points are considered. There is also new data emerging on some of these drugs as well as emerging therapies for gout that may not be widely known.

The University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy's Home Study programs offer flexible, high-quality CE designed for busy pharmacists.

Did you know....The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) guidelines recommend screening for high-risk hepatitis B antigen carriers rather than all patients with HBV infection for hepatitis delta, although studies suggest HDV screening is rarely implemented.

This CE will increase awareness of hepatitis delta, common signs and symptoms for clinicians to identify, and common risk factors. It is also to inform clinicians on the appropriate screening and treatment recommendations for this population, and the associated adverse effects associated with treatment.
