We’re thrilled to announce that URI Summer Music Academy 2027 will take place July 18–August 1, 2027!

As we continue to experience so much joy, music-making, friendship, and community together in 2026, we’re already looking forward to next summer!

We hope to see all of our wonderful campers return in 2027—and, even better, bring along friends and peers to join in on all of the fun! 🎻🎺🎷🎶

🌧️➡️✨ When a rainy beach day turns into a Gilded Age adventure in Newport!

Today, our plans took an unexpected (and wonderful!) turn as we headed to Newport for an afternoon at Marble House. We are so grateful to the Newport Mansions Preservation Society for welcoming our students and giving us the opportunity to explore this incredible piece of history.

Our students had a fantastic time wandering through the opulent rooms of Marble House while learning about the history of the women’s suffrage movement and Alva Vanderbilt’s role in that movement. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect history, architecture, and the stories of the people who shaped this remarkable place.

We then enjoyed some leisurely time along the Newport waterfront before heading back to campus at URI. A rainy day turned into a pretty memorable adventure! 🌊🏛️

Our campers have been working incredibly hard to prepare for our pre-concert showcase at the Kingston Chamber Music Festival!

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Luis Viquez of the URI Department of Music for preparing our students with such care, encouragement, and musical excellence. His ability to support each student while challenging them to reach new artistic heights has made this an unforgettable experience.

Join us on Sunday, August 2, at 2:45 p.m. for our showcase, then stay to cheer on the outstanding musicians of the Kingston Chamber Music Festival at 4:00 p.m.

We would love to see you there as we celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of these talented young musicians!

The URI Summer Music Academy is excited to offer a dynamic new track for vocalists! If you love to sing, we hope you’ll join us next summer for this exciting musical opportunity.

All vocal students participate in the URI SMA Chamber Choir, directed by Dr. Devon Russo and Jonathon Kenney. Through rehearsals and performances, students strengthen their vocal technique while exploring diverse, engaging, and inspiring choral repertoire.

In addition to choir, vocalists receive individualized instruction during studio class, where they work on a solo song of their choice. During chamber music, students collaborate in small groups on musical theater selections, duets, trios, and other vocal ensemble repertoire, developing both musicianship and performance skills.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with the success of our inaugural vocal program. This first group of singers helped launch something truly special, and we can’t wait to welcome even more talented vocalists to the URI Summer Music Academy next summer! We hope you will join us on Sunday, August 2, to celebrate the final performance of the Summer Music Academy season, featuring all woodwind, brass, percussion, string, and choral musicians. 2:45pm at the URI Fine Arts Center Recital Hall as a pre-concert showcase before the Kingston Chamber Music Festival finale concert.

Today’s Chamber Ensembles concert was fantastic! We are so proud of all of the groups for their hard work and dedication. Next up, Kingston Chamber Music Festival Concert 1 tonight and a final week 1 culmination concert tomorrow at 1:30PM!

They provide a critical scholarship for a camper to attend each summer, as well as sponsor a guest teaching artist, provide masterclasses, and many opportunities for our campers to collaborate with the KCMF artists.
