In memory of Andrey, we invite our community to read and share the tribute honoring his life and legacy.

South Kent School remembers Andrey Uryadov ’04, a beloved alumnus, hockey leader, mentor, husband, father, and enduring part of the Hillside.

It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the tragic passing of Andrey Uryadov ’04, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a deeply beloved member of the South Kent family.

A graduate of the Class of 2004, Andrey returned to the Hillside in 2015 and made South Kent his home for the next decade. During those 10 years, he raised a family and worked alongside our students and colleagues, serving as Head Hockey Coach, Admissions Associate, and Director of Hockey. He was far more than a coach. He was a mentor, teacher, friend, and steady presence whose influence reached far beyond the rink.

Andrey was a focused competitor who shaped the lives of countless young men through his leadership and genuine, unyielding passion for hockey. He embodied South Kent’s Trinity of Values, Simplicity of Life, Self-Reliance, and Directness of Purpose, and always tried his best to live by the words of Epictetus: “Don’t explain your philosophy. Embody it.”

Andrey gave so much of himself to South Kent. He will forever remain part of the Hillside.

Please keep Andrey’s family close in your thoughts and prayers. A life so young has been taken far too soon, leaving behind immeasurable grief. With broken hearts, we say:

Servant, well done.

South Kent’s Boathouse 🛶

Rooted in the rich history of SKS Crew, it remains a steady place on the Hillside for students to enjoy time outside together.

Students can help clean and restore racing shells, learn the fundamentals of rowing, or simply enjoy an afternoon on the water with friends. With warm autumn days ahead, we’re excited to continue utilizing and renewing the Boathouse as a hub for outdoor adventure throughout the 2026–2027 school year!
