I’ve been thinking about this little mouse a lot recently.
I’ve been thinking about being impossibly small in such a large and complicated world.
I’ve been thinking about stories and how they can help us be brave.
I’ve been thinking about all those people who are reading stories aloud—stories that give us the courage to act.

Two weeks from today, Ferris’ love story will be out in the world.
In the meantime, I’ll be walking around the neighborhood putting copies into Little Free Libraries.
“What is it that you want readers to take away from this book?” someone recently asked me.
This: I want readers to feel welcomed in.
I want them to feel that they have a place at the table.
I want them to feel loved.
