"Mrs. Raia has been there for everyone since the day she met them no matter what. As soon as you walk into her classroom, you will always feel a sense of comfort. At Mercy, history was never my best subject, but Mrs. Raia never made me feel like I was any less than the people who excelled in her class. Coming to St. Anthony’s my junior year was a big change and having someone to get advice from and have support from made the transition so much easier. I have never seen a teacher care about their students and the subject they teach more than Mrs. Raia."

Step 1: Arrive at school.

Step 2: Learn things.

Step 3: Learn more things.

Step 4: Take a quiz you may or may not have remembered was happening.

Step 5: Finish classes.

Step 6: Change into practice gear.

Step 7: Spend the next few hours running, throwing, hitting, and pretending your legs aren't tired.

"As a student who struggles with anxiety and the constant fear of failure, I know how much a teacher’s wise words can change someone in an instant. Seeking guidance from a teacher or any adult can be intimidating, but Mrs. Kiernan was never like that.

During my first week of freshman year, I was scared to talk to her, but I soon realized that I could pour my heart out without fear of judgment. Every time I walk into this building, I find myself thinking, When am I going to visit Mrs. Kiernan? or What am I going to tell her today? Never have I worried, 'Oh, she’s going to be upset that I need to talk to her.'

Mrs. Kiernan gives me the space to express my feelings and share how my anxiety affects me. She always has an open ear for students, no matter what they are going through. Thank you for being a wonderful teacher and someone I look up to every day."

Step 1: Wake up.

Step 2: Go to school.

Step 3: Arrive carrying enough sports equipment to supply a small college athletic department.

Step 4: Ask yourself, "Now where does all of this go?"

Step 5: Watch this video.

Learn where student-athletes are actually supposed to drop off their equipment before the school day begins.⁠

Because carrying your gear to every class is a workout your coach did not assign.

"Mr. Cordina’s passion and dedication have had such a huge impact on both the St. Anthony’s Theatre Company and our school as a whole. As our theatre supervisor, he’s pushed so many of us to step outside our comfort zones, believe in ourselves, and take on leadership roles. I know for a fact that without his encouragement, I wouldn’t be getting ready to pursue a career in theater. He saw something in me before I even saw it in myself, and for that, I’ll always be grateful.

But Mr. Cordina isn’t just about theater—he does so much more. Even when dealing with a foot injury or feeling under the weather, he still shows up for his students, knowing how important his economics lessons and political insights are. On top of being an amazing teacher, he leads the social studies department, runs our business club, and somehow still makes time to be an incredible mentor. He truly represents what St. Anthony’s is all about—helping students grow in faith, knowledge, and confidence.

On behalf of the entire Theatre Company and everyone lucky enough to have him as a teacher, thank you, Mr. Cordina! We see how much effort you put in, and we appreciate you more than words can say."
