At UCA, Unity Groups are a special part of our school culture and community. Students are placed in groups that span all grade levels and have meaningful discussions, get to know one another, and compete in the Unity Cup.

A yearlong competition for the top Unity Group reached its conclusion last week, with Mr. Fuentes' group enjoying their first place finish by putting pies in the faces of rival group teachers! (And yes, Mr. Sons got most of them)

Congratulations to senior Aiden Robinson (AR) for punching his ticket to state in two events! At sectionals this week, he notched a personal best 15.27 in the 110m high hurdles, and a 41.56 in the 300m hurdles.

Unity Christian Academy is excited to announce a leadership change that positions UCA for continued growth and long-term flourishing.

Effective July 1, 2026, Neil Okuley will transition from Head of School into the new role of Director of Advancement, where he will focus on fundraising, marketing, enrollment, and supporting the long-term mission of the school. Neil has served as UCA’s Head of School for six years and has had an impact on the school that can’t be overstated. We are so grateful for his leadership, and excited for this opportunity for him to invest more focus into UCA’s strategic priorities.

“It has been one of the great privileges of my life to serve this community as Head of School, and I am incredibly excited to continue serving UCA in a new role,” Neil said.

Charis Bootsma will transition from Principal to become UCA’s next Head of School. Over the past eight years, Charis has demonstrated exceptional leadership, deep care for students and faculty, and a steadfast commitment to Christ-centered education. Her experience, vision, and dedication make her well-equipped to lead UCA into its next chapter.

“God has done amazing things at UCA,” Charis said. “I am so excited to see what he has for the future of our school.”

This transition comes as part of UCA’s ongoing strategic planning process and reflects our commitment to advancing our mission and expanding opportunities for our students and families. We are so grateful for God’s faithfulness!
