Rosalie DeBlase graduated in May of 2026 with a Psychology and Education major and an early childhood teaching licensure. She completed field work at East Meadow School in Granby where she is now employed as their new kindergarten teacher. The East Meadow community is SO lucky to have Rosalie as one of the newest members!

"We started last Monday, and it has been a week-and-a-half full of amazing firsts, getting to know my students, and of course, lots of repetition and reinforcement of expectations! I have 14 kiddos (a wonderful number) and they are a super caring, energetic, and lively group. Here’s to the start of an amazing first year of teaching! "

If you have taken education courses in Reese, you might recognize the Hopes and Dreams tradition that we infuse into many of our first classes incorporated into Rosalie's beginning of the year routines.

Nancy Craker-Yahman is a long-time program supervisor at Mount Holyoke College. She mentored dozens of beginning educators over the years with wisdom, kindness, insight and generosity. Nancy's summer was spent doing many exciting things with family and friends. She packed up her belongings for a move to Malaysia. Travel excursions across the US by car with her husband were remarkable, with Colorado and New Mexico among their favorite spots. A trip to Istanbul, Turkey, with Nancy's eldest son was a delight as they feasted on traditional Turkish dishes and took in all the beautiful sights. She is elated at the news of her youngest son's engagement. Nancy's writing journals are full, and her bookshelf is packed tight with finished reads to share with friends.

We found out today that the Pioneer Valley Early Literacy Consortium received the DESE Early Literacy Consortium Grant. This funding will help us continue to prepare aspiring teachers and support in-service educators to implement culturally responsive and evidence-based early literacy instruction, so that all students, especially historically underserved students, can reach their full literacy potential. We will continue this work with Smith College, Northampton Public Schools, South Hadley Public Schools, Shutesbury Elementary School and Frontier Regional Public Schools. We have lots of exciting things planned for this year!

Sarah Frenette spent the summer reading, swimming, taking in sunrises and sunsets, completing home renovation projects, cooking, enjoying visits with her children, kayaking, listening to live music and learning new things. Fusing glass, driving a skiff and weaving lobster rope rugs are a few of the things Sarah learned to do this summer!
