Congratulations to SHHS juniors Kate, Ryley, Dillon, and Max (not pictured) on their participation in this year’s Boys State and Girls State programs at Stonehill College!
Sponsored by the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, Boys State and Girls State are premier leadership and citizenship programs that provide students with a hands-on opportunity to learn about government, public service, and civic engagement. Throughout the week, delegates participate in mock elections, develop legislation, debate current issues, and gain a deeper understanding of how local, state, and federal governments operate.
We are proud of these students for representing South Hadley High School and taking part in this unique leadership experience.

South Hadley Elementary School Building Committee Community Meeting Recap
The South Hadley Elementary School Building Committee hosted their 3rd Community Forum on June 4, 2026, to share project updates and gather questions and feedback from the community. The meeting included a tour of the existing Mosier Elementary School, followed by a presentation. The presentation reviewed the project’s status progressing from the feasibility study into the design phase, with completion anticipated in 2030. The preferred option includes construction of a new school at the Mosier site, featuring modern, flexible learning spaces, improved accessibility, enhanced traffic flow, and expanded opportunities for preschool, special education, and community use. The project is expected to receive significant financial support through the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), with final funding details to be refined as the design progresses and subject to community approval through a future debt exclusion vote. Planning is also underway for temporary student relocation during construction and continued community engagement to support the project's next phases.
Approximately 15 community members attended in person, with an additional 2 participants joining virtually via Zoom.
