Want better hands? You’re in the right place.

Join Brian & RJ, two drummers who are borderline obsessed with hand technique, for a series of sessions designed to transform the way you play. These aren’t your average rudiment drills. We’ll make them musical, purposeful, and actually fun.

Here’s the thing about rudiments: they’re not just exercises to suffer through. They’re the vocabulary you’ll use to develop your own unique voice on the drums. Once that clicks, everything changes.

These semi-regular sessions are built to challenge you, move you forward, and leave you with a clear, actionable blueprint for continued improvement. You’ll walk away feeling the difference, and knowing exactly how to keep building on it.

Beginner students with at least 2 months of private lesson experience are welcome. We will start the roundup with a chat and the more basic concepts, such as grip, rebound, warm-ups, etc. The first 30-40 minutes will be for all levels. At that point, we will move on to the more advanced concepts and challenges.

DM for enrollment details!

Brian K here! I just found this poster from my first ever gig! I was excused from classes to perform during lunch with my first band, Funktion 🤣
We played a few originals and probably a lot of Faith No More, Pearl Jam, CSNY, Soundgarden - so on and so forth…

Ward Melville High School Cafeteria, January 6th, 1992(?) Hey - We all have to start somewhere, why not do it in the room where everybody goes to eat their meatball parm heroes 🤷‍♀️

Lessons at the Soundry might help YOU develop the skills to book your first school cafeteria gig. Styling tips are gonna cost a bit more 🤣

Loved having in the studio last night for this Ableton Live Masterclass. He shared so many gems of wisdom and left us all feeling inspired to create music with the tools we already have on hand. Thanks, Jackson!

Keep following this space for more exciting workshops & performances. Our doors are always open to new music students for one-on-one lessons. Feel free to reach out if you want to get musical and join the Soundry community!

Drummers - Does the shape of your practice pad matter?

I think it does!

Most practicing drummers agree that a 12” pad is the ideal size for a practice pad, it fits equally well atop a 14” snare drum as it does cradled by a snare stand, but rarely do we hear drummers talk about the actual shape of the pad mattering. I detail why I have fallen back in love with the octagonally shaped HQ Reel Feel pad from my youth.

Still reveling in last night’s Soundry concert performance at the new studio - I can still feel the energy and positive vibes today as I’m getting the studio set back up for this week’s lesson schedule.

So many thanks to and for an evening of some of the best folk music being written today. So grateful to be able to fill this space with such wonderfully intentional music.

None of this could have been possible if not for the help of (who didn’t actually have the time she made to help me corral the setup efforts) and to for the loan of their primo PA. The studio PA is charming, but ancient.

It was a real treat to have this space being used in this way - more to come!
