Tri-State Fire Training, Basic 6

DAY TWO: Students spent the day at the Gill Fire Department learning about ladders and how to throw them effectively on the fire ground. Starting with the types and uses, how they’re built and what they can withstand. Leading to hands on skill stations through out the afternoon.

Going over one person and two person throws with straight and extension ladders. We applaud the students for their efforts in learning the material and putting it to use. Great job all around with taking it from the classroom to the hands on training.

Next week’s class will be interior search and rescue of victims during structure fires.

DAY ONE: The beginning of the new stage in these students journey in the fire service. Most with less than 4 months working on a volunteer fire department. All were ready and eager to learn the ins and outs of PPE. As well as the limitations of our turnout gear. But most importantly how to utilize it correctly to be able to make the difference in critical moments.

Full SCBA training both in the classroom and on the bay floor. Going over the functions of the air pack, wearing it correctly, breathing on air, and movement while wearing the full set up.

Thank you to all the students and their Chiefs. For attending these classes for the next many Saturdays during this fall. We look forward to spending each next day with this class!

Another thank you to the Greenfield Fire Department for allowing the program to use their training room and station for this weeks class.

The Fall Basic 6 program is officially FULL.

A waitlist will be conducted in a “first come, first service” fashion. Meaning people can still apply as normal and the date and time will be utilized to notify people if an opening for a slot becomes available.

We thank all the students, and their respective fire departments for undertaking this commitment towards training and readying themself for the fire service. The communities and the people that reside in them appreciate it.

In the weeks leading up to the class, if there are questions that arise, whether from a student or Chief. Please reach out to us for assistance.

In the meantime we will be preparing and are excited to help this next class!

DAY SIX: May 9th, 2026, A day of cold rainy weather made for a successful day of live fire training regardless. All students attended and conducted various fire ground skills we taught over the last five weeks of class. These students of the fire service showed confidence and professionalism this day.

We as instructors are always so humbled by the dedication these students put into our class, from sacrificing weekends, missing time with family, and spending their mornings with us. The fire service in the volunteer side needs firefighters like these to staff these stations and engines to better help the citizens of Franklin County.

Thank you to all that have attended. Go forward in your careers in the fire service and as we always said. This training program is not to be the last formal learning to be done. Continue to go out and soak up knowledge, get hands on experience and keep running the calls with your departments.

A massive thank you to all the departments that graciously hosted their classrooms, stations, firefighters, and equipment. These classes take so much preparation and efforts from all involved and being able to have locations to hold these classes is essential.

DAY FIVE: A day of review, from ladder throws to hose advancement and victim removal under non-ideal conditions. Students continued increasing their skills in all stations taught throughout this program. We’ve seen great progress in all those that have attended and sought out the training these weeks. As we’ve said in class, we are excited to see all those put those skills to the test during our live burn day this weekend!
