Closing schools in anticipation of Hurricane Nicole last week left most schools short 3 instructional hours of what is required by the state. To make up for those 3 hours, traditional public schools in Lake County will have full instructional school days on Dec. 14, Dec. 15 and Dec. 16. In the past, we have had early release days, with 1- hour early dismissal, the last three days before winter break. But this year, there will be NO EARLY RELEASE on Dec. 14, Dec. 15 or Dec. 16 for traditional public schools. These school days will end at their regular time, including Wednesday. Charter schools may handle their makeup days differently. Parents of charter school students should check with their charter school for details.
