While out visiting staff and students, Dr. McConnell noticed all sorts of shenanigans happening! Students were drawing on the sidewalk with chalk. SPC lunch ladies were cooking up lunch magic. Building nurses were busy in their offices, nursing students back to health. Later at SIC, some students even challenged Dr. McConnell to a race! (He lost 🤪). Then, he found Kennedy, who was so proud to show off her ELA award! Finally, at the end of the day, he began to look like the Cardinal!

📚✏️ School Supplies for the 2026–2027 School Year! ✏️📚

Great news, SD 194 families! Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, Steger School District 194 will provide basic classroom school supplies for all students at all three schools.

Items such as crayons, glue sticks, notebooks, pencils, Kleenex, and other everyday classroom materials will now be supplied by the district to help reduce costs for families and make back-to-school preparation easier.

Families will still need to provide personal items like backpacks, lunchboxes, gym shoes, and other individualized student items.

We are excited to take this step forward to better support our students and families as we continue working to remove barriers and create the best learning environment for every child! ❤️🖤

📚✏️ ¡Útiles Escolares para el Año Escolar 2026–2027! ✏️📚

¡Buenas noticias, familias del Distrito 194! A partir del año escolar 2026–2027, el Distrito Escolar Steger 194 proporcionará útiles escolares básicos para todos los estudiantes en las tres escuelas del distrito.

Artículos como crayones, pegamento, cuadernos, lápices, Kleenex y otros materiales escolares de uso diario serán proporcionados por el distrito para ayudar a reducir los costos para las familias y facilitar la preparación para el regreso a clases.

During Teacher Appreciation Week, Mrs. Merer's Kindergarten Class from Steger Primary Center was nominated to win a pizza party through Scott's U-Save Tire & Auto Repair teacher contest.

Today, Mrs. Mercer, Ms. Perez, and the students enjoyed a fun pizza party together to celebrate.

We would like to thank Scott’s U-Save Tire & Auto Repair for supporting our teachers, students, schools, and the Steger community. We truly appreciate community partners who help make special moments like this possible! 🍕❤️🖤

Join the wiggles and squiggles as the Itsy Bitsy Spider, Daddy Long Legs, Hookworm, Snake, and a host of other critters take over Columbia Central's stage on Wednesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 7, when the kindergarten and first grade classes present their musical, "SQUIRM!" But wait!

Out of approximately 1,500 students, only about 500 have completed enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year. If you need help, please stop by today. The process only takes a few minutes.
