🚌 A Note About Field Trips for K-5th grade (PreK is excluded from this)🐴

These expectations were put into place last year and continue to be an important part of our expectations.

Field trips are an important part of the Ruthlawn experience. They give our students opportunities to learn, explore, and practice independence which is a key part of our Ruthlawn mission.

For this reason, our field trips are designed as student/personnel-only experiences chaperoned and supervised by Ruthlawn staff and school personnel. Keeping supervision with school personnel helps ensure clear expectations, consistent leadership, and the safest, most organized experience possible for our students.

There are extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis that parents are invited to attend with their student, but those are handled between the teacher, parent, and administrator.

We understand that families may want to be part of field trip experiences. However, we also want our students to have opportunities to experience new things independently from their parents and guardians.

We have many wonderful opportunities throughout the year where family involvement is encouraged and celebrated, and we look forward to seeing you at those events!

Thank you for supporting our students as we help them become respectful, accountable, independent learners and thinkers.
