🎒 Backpack Boot Camp! 🐯

Before the first day arrives, let’s practice the important backpack skills that help students feel confident and ready for school!

Have your child practice:
🎒 Packing and zipping their backpack.
📁 Carrying their backpack and keeping track of their belongings.
🏷️ Making sure their name is on personal items.
🧥 Putting on and taking off jackets independently.
📚 Knowing what items belong in their backpack.

🚫 A quick backpack check: toys and electronics stay home!

Backpacks should come to school ready for learning. Toys, stuffed animals, games, and electronic devices can become distractions, get lost, or accidentally cause problems during the school day. Help your child start the year by packing only the items they need for school.

A little practice now builds independence, confidence, and a smoother first day! ❤️🐯

🍎🥪 Let's Practice Lunch Before School Starts!🐯

The countdown to a new school year is on! One of the best ways to help your child feel confident is to practice lunchtime at home.

⏰ Set a timer for 25-30 minutes and let them eat their lunch just like they will at school.

While you're practicing, encourage them to:

🥪 Open all of their own lunch containers, snack bags, yogurt tubes, and drinks independently.

🍌 Peel bananas or oranges without help.

💧 Open and close their water bottle.

🧃 Clean up after themselves.

🍱 Double-check that reusable containers, lunch boxes, and utensils don't accidentally get thrown away with the trash.

A little practice now can make lunchtime less stressful and help your child feel more confident and independent on the first day of school. Every small skill they master now is one less thing they'll have to worry about later!

😴📚 Is Your Child Ready for the School Sleep Schedule? 🛏️⏰

After a fun summer of later bedtimes and sleeping in, it's time to start helping our Tiger Cubs transition back to a school routine! Starting now can make those first few days of school much easier for everyone.

💛 Here are a few simple tips:

🌙 Begin moving bedtime and wake-up time a little earlier each day.

📖 Create a calming bedtime routine like a bath, reading a book together, and saying goodnight.

📱 Turn off electronic devices well before bedtime and keep them out of the bedroom overnight.

🤫 Keep the house as quiet and relaxing as possible while younger children are falling asleep.

😴 Getting enough sleep is one of the best ways to set your child up for success. Well-rested children are better able to focus, learn, participate, and enjoy their school day. Insufficient sleep has also been linked to lower academic achievement, increased absenteeism, and more tardiness.

Let's help our students start the school year rested, refreshed, and ready to learn! 🐯❤️

We received this question a few times after yesterday’s bus post. The quickest way to find your student’s route is through the KCS Bus Route Finder.

Just:

📍 Enter your home address
🏫 Select your student’s school
🔎 Click Find Bus

The results will show the available route, bus stop location, pickup/drop-off times for that address, and your student's bus route number. Be sure to review both the morning and afternoon information, they may not be the same.

The route number is listed in the results, such as CH06 in the picture below. The bus number may change, but the route stays the same.

Their classroom babies are in desperate need of a wardrobe makeover. 😅 Their current outfits are giving... straight out of a 1974 department store catalog.🕺🌼

If you have any gently loved baby dolls or doll clothes your little ones have outgrown, we'd love to give them a second life in our dramatic play centers! Our tiny friends are ready to retire the vintage look and step into this decade. 👶💕👗
