On October 2, Richmond Elementary proudly celebrated students who achieved Mastery in Reading or Math on the West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVGSA).

These outstanding students were recognized on the field before the South Charleston High School football game—a special moment to celebrate their hard work and academic achievement.

A special thank you to Mrs. Workman for joining us for this celebration, and to all of the families who took the time to bring their students to be recognized. Your support makes these moments even more meaningful.

Finally, thank you to South Charleston High School for helping us celebrate the success of our students. We appreciate your partnership and your commitment to recognizing academic excellence!

Congratulations to all of our WVGSA Mastery students—we are so proud of you! ❤️🐾

Last night at the Board of Education meeting, Richmond Elementary's own Mrs. Bossart was recognized as a Richmond "Superhero!" 🎉

Mrs. Bossart earned this well-deserved honor because her students from the 2025–2026 school year achieved the highest scores in both DIBELS and i-Ready. Her dedication, hard work, and commitment to student success continue to make a tremendous impact.

Congratulations, Mrs. Bossart! We are so proud of you and grateful to have you as part of the Richmond Family. ❤️🐾

Thank you, Central Elementary School and your incredible school family, for your thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity during this difficult time.

Your beautiful banner filled with encouraging words has been a reminder of the love and support that surrounds the Richmond Elementary family. Your generous monetary donation, which will be given directly to Mrs. Ross's family, is a meaningful expression of compassion that will make a lasting difference.

We are so grateful for your friendship and for standing beside us with such caring hearts. In moments like these, we are reminded that the school community is so much bigger than the walls of our own building.

From all of us at Richmond Elementary, thank you for your prayers, your encouragement, and your overwhelming kindness. ❤️

Plans to Honor Mrs. Ross

The Richmond staff has chosen to make one donation directly to the family from our school/school community. Doing so, will eliminate the fees associated with Go Fund Me. If you would like to be part of this giving, donations can be dropped off at the school today, 9/25 or Monday, 9/28.

If you prefer to use Go Fund Me the link is here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/a-loving-tribute-to-alison-tootie

We are planning an art display at the church including our student, Riley Kelly’s beautiful artwork depicting Mrs. Ross with students. We are going to include paper chains that will form “sun rays” out from her drawing. We will have all students sign their names and include a message, if desired, on individual paper links. We will have links available at the school on Monday for anyone that would like to be included in this display.

Some have asked for information about her service: Home Going Service will be held on September 29th at Kingdom Life Church, Nitro WV. Viewing at 11:00 AM and Service @ 12:00 PM. Many staff members will be in attendance to this service. Our county has generously offered much help to make sure that all staff can attend, and also allow students to have a full school day.

Richmond Elementary Families,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Alison Ross, our second-grade instructional aide.

Alison always had a smile on her face and a special way of lighting up a room. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by our students, staff, and families.

Please keep Alison’s family, our staff, and our students in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Richmond Elementary
