Join us for a unique showcase of hands-on STEM learning! Presented by the UVM STEM Ambassadors on Saturday, November 15 from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm on UVM campus in Burlington. Geared towards middle grades, but youth ages 8-14 are welcome! Parents and caregivers may attend the brief opening welcome session, but hands-on activities are for youth only

State 4-H Bovine Bonanza

Come join in the fun and learn about some bovine-related topics! This event is for 4-H members between ages 8 and 18 as of January 1, 2026. 4-H members who turned 8 anytime this year (2025) are invited to participate as this contest counts for the new 4-H year.

Registration is $2 per person (payable at the door). Please register each youth online by Friday, October 31, 2025 at https://go.uvm.edu/20252026bovinebonanza

Meet Eva Joly!

How it started: Eva joined 4-H in Chittenden County at age 8 through her love of horses. As a member of the Flying Hooves, Starry Nights, and Whispering Pines clubs, she explored projects in leadership, equine, small animals, STEM, community service, and more. Along the way, she built lifelong friendships and had the honor of representing Vermont at regional and national events, all while embracing the 4-H lesson she still carries today: “If you’re on time you’re late, and if you’re late you’re left.” Mary Fay

How it’s going: Today, Eva studies the biology behind medical conditions that personally impact her. She credits 4-H with giving her the confidence to try new things and pursue her passions. Looking back, her advice to her younger self (and to today’s 4-H’ers) is simple: Take advantage of every opportunity!

Meet Mary Fay!

How it started: Mary became a member of the Lucky Shamrocks 4-H Club in Chittenden County, where she explored projects in food, clothing, community service, and horses. With a leader who encouraged trying new things, Mary experienced it all, Eastern States with action exhibits, camping adventures, and County and State Day events.

How it’s going: As a teen leader, Mary discovered her love for teaching and mentoring, a passion that shaped her career path and lifelong involvement in 4-H. While she worked professionally as a school secretary and later as an administrative assistant in a 4-H office, her true classroom has always been 4-H. For 55 years, she has served as a dedicated 4-H leader, continuing to guide youth and support the horse program at both the state and regional levels.

Her advice to her younger self (and to today’s 4-H’ers): Set goals and go for them.
