Thank you to all of our wonderful customers for making 2025 another productive and inspiring season! So many native plants left the nursery for new homes across Northern Michigan. With a (another!) new greenhouse and improved heating and watering infrastructure added this fall, we’re looking forward to starting it all over again in a couple of months. Happy New Year and see you in the spring!

Another great season coming to an end… We’re filled with gratitude for our amazing customers and their continued support and commitment to native plants, our lovely greenhouse helper, Anne, who brightened up many long days at the nursery, and for the plants that keep us inspired and always learning. Thank you, have a wonderful winter and we’re looking forward to seeing you all in the Spring!

The growing season is coming to a close and we’re looking back at another great year. We’re grateful to all our wonderful customers and partners for keeping us growing. Thank you!⠀

We’re making the most of the fall season - putting the nursery to rest, collecting and cleaning seed, seeding and planting on our 18 acre native grassland (pictured), and building a new barn for supplies, equipment and office space. ⠀

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy winter. We can’t wait to see you all again next year when the planting season begins.

The American Lady and Painted Lady butterflies have been busy laying their eggs on flats of Pussytoes and Pearly Everylasting at the nursery. Both of these are host species for caterpillars in the Vanessa genus, and are already fulfilling a vital role before leaving for new homes in Northern MI gardens and landscapes.

Lots of activity at the nursery these last couple of weeks seeding and germinating, as well as thawing out and cleaning up overwintered stock in the caterpillar tunnels. There may still be many cold nights ahead, but we’re excited to start the 2023 growing season!

Thank you to all our wonderful customers and partners for a great 2022! We’re continuing to expand our production space and offerings, and we are excited to get even more native plants out across northern Michigan in 2023. Unfazed by hard frosts, October snows and high winds, Frost Aster (Symphyotrichum pilosum) is still in bloom and being visited by foraging bees during this late October warm spell.

Two more days until our fall retail sale here at the nursery! The greenhouses will be open this Saturday, October 1st from 10am to 4pm. Horsemint (Monarda punctuta) is a valuable plant for supporting solitary wasps. The flowers are in full bloom here and are being visited non-stop by multiple species, such as this mason wasp.
