At Friday’s IDOC Reception, we celebrated an incredible achievement—every student from the South Bend Re-Entry Center earned their American Welding Society (AWS) certification on their first attempt.

This accomplishment reflects the hard work and determination of the students, as well as the dedication of instructor Kent Emerson. Kent’s ability to build trust, provide mentorship, and create an environment where students can succeed continues to change lives.

Through our ongoing partnership with the South Bend Re-Entry Center, students are gaining job-ready skills in welding—one of today’s most in-demand career fields—and opening doors to meaningful careers and brighter futures.

Happy National Donut Day! 🍩👩‍🍳

Today we’re celebrating the creativity, skill, and hard work of pastry chefs everywhere — especially the talented students and faculty in Ivy Tech Community College’s Baking & Pastry program.

From breads and pastries to cakes, confections, and specialty desserts, Ivy Tech students gain hands-on experience and industry-ready skills that prepare them for careers as bakers and pastry chefs.

Thank you to all the pastry chefs who bring creativity, craftsmanship, and a little extra sweetness to our communities every day. And to our future pastry professionals at Ivy Tech — keep baking amazing things! 🍰✨

On June 3, we joined AWS, community leaders, educators, and industry partners to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the new AWS Campus Administration Building in St. Joseph County.

While the facility itself is impressive, what excites us most are the opportunities it represents for students and our community.

As the data center industry continues to grow in Northern Indiana, Ivy Tech South Bend-Elkhart is helping prepare the workforce through programs and training in Data Center Operations, Data Center Engineering Operations, fiber optics, information technology, electrical systems, advanced manufacturing, and other high-demand technical fields.

These career pathways connect students to well-paying, in-demand jobs while helping employers build the talent pipeline needed for the future.

The future is being built right here in Northern Indiana—and our students are ready to be part of it.

Congratulations to our Innovation and Impact Award Winner, Michael Moseng from Facilities at the Elkhart County Campus! 👏🔧

Michael is the kind of person who can fix just about anything — and somehow never seems to need a ladder to do it. More importantly, he is always willing to jump in and help wherever needed with a positive attitude and incredible dedication to the campus.

Most recently, Michael saved the college tens of thousands of dollars by personally researching, locating parts for, repairing, and programming the campus fire panel system himself. His resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, and commitment to the campus are truly exceptional.

Thank you, Michael, for everything you do to keep our campus running and for always going above and beyond for students, faculty, staff, and the community. We are incredibly lucky to have you on our team!

Big progress is happening at the Dental Hygiene Lab renovation at Ivy Tech South Bend–Elkhart! 🦷✨

Scheduled to open in Fall 2026, the newly renovated space will expand from 10 to 18 dental chairs — creating opportunities to grow the Dental Hygiene program, educate more future healthcare professionals, and serve even more community members through affordable dental cleanings and x-rays.

This investment means more students, more hands-on learning opportunities, and increased access to low-cost dental care for the region. We can’t wait to welcome students and patients into the new space!

This Memorial Day, South Bend–Elkhart honors and remembers the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Ivy Tech’s South Bend-Elkhart campus proudly congratulates Marian High School senior Ava Dillon on her acceptance into Ivy Tech’s Beacon Health System School of Nursing program this fall!

Admission into Ivy Tech’s ASN Nursing program is highly competitive. To be considered, students must complete four prerequisite courses, achieve proficient scores on the TEAS exam, and successfully navigate a rigorous application process.

In addition to earning the Indiana College Core, Ava is one of only a few local students who completed all Nursing program admission requirements while still in high school. Her outstanding performance placed her in the top percentage of applicants, leading to her acceptance!

Congratulations, Ava, we look forward to seeing all you accomplish!
