📱 New Student Cell Phone Directive Effective July 1, 2026
Effective July 1, 2026, South Bend Schools will implement a new Student Cell Phone Directive in accordance with Indiana law.
Under the directive, students' personal wireless communication devices—including cell phones, smartwatches, headphones, and earbuds—must remain powered off, out of sight in a locker, and inaccessible during the instructional day unless an approved exception applies.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to review the new directive and read the accompanying infographic before the first day of school.
Important: Beginning with the first offense, any device confiscated for a directive violation must be retrieved in person by a parent or guardian from school administration.
