Nuner Fine Arts Academy

Ms. Nagy's 4th graders have been studying American Innovations in our CKLA Unit. The students had to collaborate with their peers, make a business plan, advertise, and staff their stations with breaks for shopping and eating snacks. We even had some staff members "shop"! Many students said it was their favorite day of school ever! Market Day was very successful!

Who knew popsicle sticks could be so strong? 😲

Using fewer than 250 sticks and school glue, the engineers in Mrs. Farrell's class designed and built a bridge that’s ready to take on a stack of books! 📚🌉 From research to construction, this project challenged their creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

🥕🍞🍌🥛🥩🍎 Learning about nutrition has never been so much fun!

Today, students in Miss Hardy's 2nd grade class combined PE and nutrition during a lively lesson focused on healthy eating habits and movement. During the "Locomotor Buffet" warm-up, students hopped, galloped, skipped, ran, and wiggled their way to different food groups, reinforcing the importance of a balanced diet while practicing locomotor skills. They then put their teamwork and nutrition knowledge to the test in a "Build-A-Meal" relay race, collecting foods from each of the five food groups to create a healthy, balanced plate. Students learned that making nutritious choices takes planning, cooperation, and a little strategy!

🥔🌎 Let the Potato Olympics begin! 🌎🥔

5th grade students have been hard at work creating and decorating their potato athletes while learning about countries from around the world. This morning, our Taterletes and trainers proudly paraded through the school carrying the flags of the nations they represent and showcasing their one-of-a-kind potato competitors.

This fun annual tradition combines creativity, geography, and research as the students "travel the world" through the Olympic experience. We can't wait to see our athletes in action and celebrate all of their hard work!

Today, our school community celebrated the remarkable career of Anne Lewandowski as she retires after 35 years of dedicated teaching.

For more than three decades, Mrs. Lewandowski has inspired, guided, and supported countless students, leaving a lasting impact on generations of learners and colleagues alike. Her passion for education, commitment to excellence, and caring spirit have made our school a better place.

We are grateful for her years of service and the difference she has made in so many lives. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Lewandowski on this incredible milestone and wishing her happiness, health, and many exciting adventures in retirement.

The last day of school is almost here! Come celebrate summer break with the South Bend Police Department at our annual School's Out Cookout coming up on Friday, June 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Center!

Arts Integration in action!

Ms. Crawford's first graders have been reading about adventures and using their imaginations to visit different places in our world. We joined Mrs. McGlothlen today in P.E. to blast off into outer space! The students had to collect alien crystals that would power their spaceships. They space walked around planets, and an asteroid field to get the crystals. They experienced zero gravity on the mission. During the mission, they worked as a team, worked on listening skills, and used their imagination during physical activity. (Bean bags = “Space Crystals”, hula hoops= planets, cones=asteroids, space music, and scooters helped the experience come to life.) Everyone had a great time during our space mission.

A special thank you to our district Communications Department for their support during our musical and for capturing these wonderful moments! We are so grateful for these beautiful photos that help preserve the memories of an incredible production and the hard work of our talented students and staff. 🎭

Arts Integration in action!

This morning during Arts Integration with Mrs. Tricker in Dance, Ms. B’s class learned two basic jazz dance steps popular during the Harlem Renaissance: The Charleston and the Lindy Hop. As you can see, Ms. B’s students were quick learners! Bring on the Jazz!!!

Nuner's track team finished their season on Saturday and received a 3rd place overall standing! Our students represented Nuner with incredible effort, sportsmanship, and determination.
