Last Friday, IU South Bend held the annual Staff Appreciation Day. Awards were presented, recreational activities conducted and good spirits were had by all. This year's theme was the World Cup and in keeping with that theme, Leighton School of Business Staff dressed up for the occasion and made their usual big entrance to the program.

Today is the big day - at this evening's commencement ceremony, we will celebrate the IU South Bend Class of 2026 and confer nearly 900 degrees!

Congratulations to our class of 2026 MBA graduates!

IU South Bend welcomed Congressman Rudy Yakym III for his first visit back to campus since being elected to Congress.

He met with Chancellor Brian Pappas for an update on IU South Bend, toured campus, and met with several students from the Indiana University South Bend - Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics.

Jill Brown was among those Leighton School of Business at the meeting. She said, “I had an amazing experience meeting with congressman Yakym. It was an honor to be chosen to represent the Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics. It was especially helpful because I recently moved from North Carolina and, meeting with my congressman was very special and informative as a new Indiana resident. I gained a lot of insight and knowledge from the meeting.”

Yakym is also an IU South Bend alum, and graduated in 2011 with a B.S. in Finance.

Senior Suan Sang, a double major in Human Resource Management and General Business, is graduating one semester early while completing both programs.

“For me, I believe every school is what you make of it—big or small doesn’t matter as much as your commitment and effort.”

During his time at IU South Bend, Suan earned Dean’s List honors, served as an executive member of SHRM, and gained hands-on leadership experience through an internship at Panda Express, where he worked as a shift lead supporting daily operations.

After graduation, he plans to pursue opportunities in areas such as recruiting or payroll to gain hands-on experience and continue developing his skills.

IU South Bend Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics faculty and staff gathered at Hacienda Restaurant to celebrate Administrative Professionals Day on April 22. We appreciate all the hard work and time our professional staff invest in the School, the students and the faculty every day.

The Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics thanks Judy Yeh, Head of Media at AbbVie, Damian D’Anna, Senior Vice President of Client Partnerships at NBCUniversal Media, and Kevin Stamets, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Shurtape Technologies, and IUSB alumni, for serving as panelists at the sixth annual Forum of Advertising and Marketing Executives (FAME).

The forum was organized by the Career Planning Office.

FAME provided students with executive-level insight into advertising and marketing, broadening their perspectives on the field. Panel topics included the use of AI in business, the advertising and marketing job market, and the characteristics and skills necessary for career success.

IU Day is coming up in just one week - a time to celebrate all things IU, such as: wearing your crimson & cream, sharing photos, supporting an IU cause close to your heart, or attending an event.
