𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀. 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.

SBCSC is taking a new approach to vendor contracts by tying a portion of payments directly to measurable student outcomes, a strategy known as outcome-based contracting.

In a guest column published in the South Bend Tribune, Dr. Bo Yan, our executive director of Data, Technology & System Improvement, explains how this approach is designed to strengthen accountability and make more effective use of district resources.

Our new partnership with Really Great Reading, focused on improving middle school literacy, is one example. Under the agreement, 40% of the contract's value is tied to participating students achieving proficiency on the 2027 ILEARN English/Language Arts assessment.

𝙂𝙊𝙇𝘿, 𝙍𝙄𝙇𝙀𝙔!

Congratulations to the Riley High School Wildcat Marching Band on earning a Gold rating at the ISSMA Marching Band Competition—with BOTH Music AND Visual distinctions!

It’s the first time since 2021 that Riley has earned both distinctions!

And these Wildcats earned it the hard way. After a broken-down bus at one competition and a flat trailer tire on the way to ISSMA, our students showed resilience, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving—then took the field and delivered an outstanding performance.

That’s more than a competition result. That’s Wildcat spirit. 🐾
Congratulations to our students, directors, families, Band Boosters, and everyone who supports this incredible program!

The District Parent Cafés begin Thursday, October 8, at 5:30 p.m. in the Commons Area at the Brown Administration Building.

Parents, teachers and caregivers are invited to join us for meaningful conversations focused on protective factors that help strengthen families.

Together, we’ll share, connect and build stronger families and communities.

Dinner and childcare will be provided!

It’s wonderful to see our schools celebrating Hispanic heritage, culture, traditions, and the many contributions of Hispanic communities throughout our district.

From student projects to school celebrations and community connections, there are so many ways our students and families are learning, sharing, and celebrating together.

Harrison Elementary invites families and community members to celebrate Hispanic heritage and culture on Thursday, October 15, from 5–7 p.m. at Harrison Elementary School!

Students will showcase artwork, crafts, and research projects highlighting countries and cultures across the Hispanic world. They're also welcoming local organizations, businesses, artists, and community members to share resources and talents through music, art, traditional dress, dance, and more!
