This past weekend both the boys and girls track teams competed in the Hamilton Marines Invitational. This meet always provides a unique opportunity as its proximity to the Ohio border brings in teams from that state as well!
The boys team had a strong showing with 1st place finishes in both the 110m hurdles and 400m open by Siva Bahradine-Bell. Siva also took down the meet and facility record in the 400m with a 52.37. Also scoring for the trailblazers were Denari Moore (110m hurdles & 300m hurdles), Martell Thomas (Long Jump), and Amon Murray (Discus).
The girls team not to be outdone had a similarly strong showing highlighted by the girls 4x100m relay team’s dominating 1st place finish (Zion Taylor, MyYana Phillips, Brooklyn Blount, and Beaytefu Wiley). Also scoring for the girls were Keemariaha Chambliss (400m), Cadence Reeves (800m and 1600m), and Ariona Hawkins (Shot Put).
This past weekend, our own Siva Bahradine-Bell traveled down to Indianapolis to compete in the HSR indoor state track & field meet.
Siva entered the event with a qualifying jump of 20’7.25” which seeded him 8th out of 24 athletes in the small school division. Siva landed a huge jump on his second attempt and set a PR of 21’5.25” which placed him 3rd overall for the meet!
We are incredibly proud of Siva and his continued growth as an athlete and person!
We just received official word our own Siva Bahradine-Bell has qualified for the HSR indoor state championships in long jump.
Siva’s perseverance and determination rebounding from a season ending injury this past year makes this even more special.
Siva represents the second consecutive year the track program is sending a qualifier to the Indoor state championships.
Good luck this weekend Siva and your team, coaches, and school couldn’t be more proud!
Nico Gammage with a nice move and score at sectionals.
As the winter season starts to wind down we look ahead to spring sports and track. Our indoor state champion Jace Woods, along with Coach Cameron Mester, were honored for Jace’s 60m state championship. Both Coach and Jace received a championship ring at our ceremony. Jace’s jersey was entered along side graduate Tyvon Henry’s in the Career Academy Ring of Honor. Check out the pictures below!
