This week Dr. Tina Jennings, Memorial’s Program Director, as Chair of the Indiana Family Medicine Residency Learning Network (IFMRLN), led the IFMRLN Faculty Development Summit. This day long gathering of family medicine residency faculty from across the state featured presentations from two of Memorial’s own. Dr. Greg Pouliot presented “Take Five” (Minutes) for Equity,” highlighting how pausing to examine bias during inpatient rounds can improve the quality of patient care. Dr. Kate Callaghan presented “Street Medicine: Go to the People,” sharing about Memorial’s outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness, Street Medicine South Bend, and the rich learning opportunity this offers to residents as we care for disproportionally marginalized neighbors. We are so proud of our amazing faculty leading healthcare at the state level!

Our E. Blair Warner Family Medicine Clinic all-staff retreat asked: What does “Food is Medicine” look like in practice?

We started at the Ivy Tech Café with Dr. Tessa Keiser discussing nutrition and population health, then headed to the Hospitality & Culinary Arts teaching kitchen to practice cooking skills and prepare lunch together.

The conversation connected directly to our clinic’s work through our in-house food pantry, where we provide bags of food to patients in the clinic and currently deliver food to 33 patient families in our community.

The Indiana Department of Health also joined us for education on food, healthcare, and community health programs. Indiana Department of Health

Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Dillon Stull

Meet newly appointed faculty: Dr. Stull!
Dr. Stull recently completed an international rotation at Brother André Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. 🇰🇪🌎

With the residency’s support, Dr. Stull participated in antenatal, postpartum, and obstetric care, including C-sections and general surgery, while also teaching through lectures and case discussions.

Wednesday we had our all resident retreat at Silver Beach at Saint Joseph, MI. We started the morning morning playing charades with VERY specific and somewhat impossible prompts (thanks Dr. Pouliot). My favorite part was being able to reflect on the past year and hearing all the wonderful things that we have been up to.

We also got to spend time with our newest member to the residency (see the last slide 😉), and I think it’s safe to say he’s been the cutest addition to our fam.

Looking forward to more beach days with the buds 🌊☀️
