This is a 30-week course designed to give students an overarching knowledge of the main features of United States history from its earliest beginnings to the present day. It will be a reading course, so students should expect to read 2 to 5 pages from the textbook each weekday. Daily reading assignments will be provided along with helpful assessment resources. Some attention will be given to learning significant geographic features of the U.S., that is, being able to identify and locate major rivers, ports, mountain ranges, and pinpointing on a map where the various states are situated. Students will have the opportunity to write several papers during the course as well experience the exhilarating joy of having Opportunities to Display Excellence, otherwise known as quizzes and tests. It promises to be an intellectually invigorating class.
