Go Bobcats!
As we prepare to begin the 2026-27 school year, we want you to know how excited we are to welcome our students, families, and staff back to Sonora Elementary School. There is something special about the start of a new school year with the return of familiar faces, the opportunity to welcome new families and the sense of possibility, that comes with a fresh beginning.
We also recognize that our school community has experienced challenges and change. Those experiences matter, and we do not overlook them. However, at the same time, we believe strongly that challenges can also create opportunities to listen, learn, strengthen relationships, and build something even better together. This year, our focus will remain where it belongs: on our students and their success. We want every child to feel welcomed, supported, challenged, and connected to their school. We want our classrooms to be places of curiosity and discovery, our campus to be a place where students feel safe and valued, and our families to know that they are important partners in the work we do.
As we move forward, we have an opportunity to build upon the many strengths that already exist within Sonora Elementary while also exploring new ideas and possibilities for our students. That work will require collaboration, open communication, and a willingness to work together toward a common purpose. We are excited about what we can accomplish when our staff, families, students, and community come together around that shared commitment.
One of our priorities this year will be continuing to build out relationships, trust, and meaningful engagement, and ensuring all voices, not just the loud ones, are an important part of shaping the future of Sonora Elementary School. We encourage you to stay involved, ask questions, share ideas, attend school activities, and celebrate alongside us as our students learn and grow.
Most importantly, we hope our students return to school knowing that there are adults throughout our community who believe in them and are committed to helping them succeed. The beginning of a school year gives us the chance not simply to return to what was, but to imagine what can be. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve this community, and we look forward to the new opportunities we will build, pursue, and realize together.
Welcome back, Sonora Elementary. Here is to a wonderful year ahead!
Sincerely,
Dr. Nicolas Wade, Superintendent
Ms. Lauren Read, Principal
