ViVO Youth Orchestras is a mission-driven organization committed to helping youth thrive and change their lives through music. Through learning and making music together, we inspire our members to believe that everyone has the power to change their life and succeed. Inspired by the El-Sistema model we are a full-scholarship program open to all school-aged children and youth. We strive to build a thriving and vibrant community dedicated to serving marginalized youth, closing the opportunity gap and making a lasting positive impact on children in Sonoma Valley.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for a strings teaching artist who is passionate about working with children and making a lasting positive change in their lives l. You will be responsible for planning, leading and implementing engaging and creative music ensemble experiences four days a week after school. As an ideal candidate, you are an upbeat, collaborative and proactive thinker, intrinsically motivated to exceed expectations and contribute to our collective goal of having a positive impact on the youth we serve.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Be available to work in the program in after school time for 4 school days per week - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
• Be available to participate in the summer music camp in the mornings - five days a week
• Provide music instruction for string instruments
• Supervise students while in program and during program break
• Plan lessons according to ViVO curriculum benchmarks
• Collaborate in evaluating student progress
• Participate in PD workshops, attend instructor meetings and participate in program concerts and events
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the ViVO Directors
• Maintain positive interactions with members, families and community members
