⚽️Somonauk MS Soccer traveled to HBR on Monday for a non-conference game against the Royals, and came away with a well-deserved 3-1 win. Logan Johnson scored early in the first half, assisted by Cruz Hawkins, to put us up 1-0, but HBR was able to tie the score before the half. Somonauk answered by scoring twice within the first 10 minutes of the second half, both by Dylan Larson, assisted by Logan Johnson and Declan McMahan, to secure the win. Defensively, the backline played a very solid game, and Griffin Carpenter made 2 saves in goal. The Bobcats are now (1-0-1) heading into our next matchup, a non-conference game Wednesday at Plano.

In Game 2, the Bobcats and Royals played to a scoreless tie, but there were tons of positives from the Bobcats. Jeffrey Jones made 1 save to keep HBR off the board and secure a clean sheet, and the offense kept putting shot after shot on the HBR keeper. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find the back of the net, but seeing all of the opportunities we had was GREAT progress to continue building on!

⚽️Somonauk Middle School Soccer traveled to Serena on Friday to open the season against the Huskers for two games. Both games were exceptionally well-played between both teams. In Game 1, this non-conference matchup ended in a 2-2 tie (our conference game vs Serena is later in the season).

We went into halftime trailing 1-0 after giving up a penalty kick, and then went down 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the second half. It seemed like it wasn’t our night, until we pulled off a miraculous comeback in the final 3 minutes to salvage the tie. With 2 minutes and 25 seconds left in the game, Joseph Kotalik buried a goal, assisted by Logan Johnson, to draw us within 1. Then, with 1 second left on the clock, Logan Johnson took a final, desperate shot…and it took a deflection off a defender and went right into the back of the net, ending the game 2-2! Through one game, our record is (0-0-1) as we travel to HBR on Monday for a massive non-conference matchup!

In the second game of the night, Somonauk defeated the Huskers 2-0. Henry Shafer chipped the Serena goalie at the far post to open the scoring for the Bobcats, and then Adam Schindlbeck secured the win for us, scoring with only a few minutes left to give us the win! Conor Saffold was strong in net, making several saves and earning a clean sheet. It was a great start to our season!

⚾️ SMS BOBCATS SWEEP THE DOUBLEHEADER!

What a day of baseball for our Somonauk Bobcats! The boys battled through two games against Indian Creek at Lions Park on Saturday and came away with two wins — 5-4 and 10-1!

GAME 1 | Bobcats 5 – Indian Creek 4

The first game was a battle from start to finish, and our guys continued to compete when it mattered most.

Sawyer White was dominant on the mound, pitching 6 innings and striking out 13 batters. A great performance that kept us in position to come away with the win.

Offensively, Liam LeCuyer came through with a single down the right-field line in the third inning to help tie the game at 3-3. The Bobcats continued to battle and took a 5-3 lead in the seventh, with Lesean Sturgis delivering a big RBI single.

Camden Lemke and Lesean Sturgis each collected two hits, while Sawyer White, Sturgis, LeCuyer, and Maxx Flores each drove in a run.

Our guys also showed great patience at the plate, working seven walks. Mason Secor and Cruz Hawkins led the way with two walks apiece. That discipline, combined with timely hitting and strong pitching, helped us grind out the 5-4 victory.

GAME 2 | Bobcats 10 – Indian Creek 1

The boys carried that momentum right into Game 2 and put together a great all-around team performance.

Camden Lemke was outstanding on the mound, throwing all seven innings and striking out 12 batters while allowing just five hits, one run, and no walks.

Sawyer White followed up his strong pitching performance in Game 1 with a big game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two singles and a triple.

Liam LeCuyer helped get us on the board in the first inning before our offense broke the game open in the fifth. The Bobcats exploded for six runs on five hits to take a 7-1 lead. The biggest blow of the inning came from Mason Secor, who ripped a double that drove in two runs.

Our offense finished with 10 hits. Mason led the team with two RBIs, going 1-for-2, while Camden Lemke added two hits in three at-bats.

The boys were also extremely aggressive on the bases. Sawyer White, Jamison Roberts, Hunter Punsalan, and Cruz Hawkins each stole multiple bases, helping the Bobcats finish with an impressive 14 stolen bases in the game!

Up next: SMS HOME game vs. Plano on Thursday, 8/27/26; start time 4:30.
