Dear Aikido Tekkojuku Friends,
It has been a long two years of being apart from one another. In the spirit of returning to in person practice of aikido and remembering where we began, this Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 6:30PM will be our memorial to Mitsunari Kanai Sensei at 170 Ringe Avenue, Cambridge (Reservoir Church). Kanai Sensei was the beloved, long-time teacher and inspiration for many hundreds of students –including the founders of Aikido Tekkojuku of Boston.
This in person memorial will have a short class from 6:30 to 7:00pm, followed by a small gathering to share memories and stories of Kanai Sensei.
Thank you,
Itoh Sensei
Note: While the city of Cambridge has lifted its mask mandate, we ask that those attending the memorial wear masks for the safety of others.

Happy New Year, ATJB Members!
We hope you are all well. We continue working to responsibly navigate a path through this current--and ongoing--challenge and enable aikido practice with a range of options to meet a variety of needs. We are fully aware that the omicron variant is spreading very quickly through all communities and while it is less likely to cause serious illness for the fully vaccinated, it is also highly transmissible even among the vaccinated. We also know that many folks are eager to return to aikido practice while taking whatever precautions are available. With that in mind, ATJB will resume classes this week with following schedule:
Wednesdays 6:30 PM, beginning January 5: Itoh Sensei; indoors, distanced practice, no contact.
Thursdays 6:30 PM, beginning January 13: Ken/Brian; indoors, regular contact, not distanced. only one partner per practice.
Saturdays 10:00 AM, beginning January 8: Joji; indoors, distanced practice, no contact.
Sundays 7:15 AM, beginning January 16: Atsushi; outdoors (Reservoir Church parking lot), weapons, distanced practice, no contact.
Everyone is required to be fully vaccinated for classes and strongly encouraged to be boostered--especially for the full contact class.
Everyone must be masked for all classes; KN-95 masks are recommended.
At this time, only the Thursday classes will be full contact. As more full contact classes become possible, that will be announced.
Wishing you a healthy start to the New Year,
The ATJB Board
