Call for Papers: Special Issue on “Imaging and Geometric Processing” in Mathematics in Computation, Geometry and Data (MCGD)
We are pleased to announce a special issue of MCGD dedicated to Imaging and Geometric Processing, to be published in 2026. This special issue aims to bring together cutting-edge research at the intersection of image processing, geometric modeling, and computational mathematics, reflecting the journal’s core mission of advancing the mathematical foundations of data science.
Aims and Scope
Rapid developments in imaging technologies and 3D data acquisition have created an urgent need for rigorous mathematical frameworks and efficient computational algorithms. This special issue will highlight advances in the modeling, analysis, and computation of geometric structures in image and shape data. We seek contributions that bridge theory and practice, from deep mathematical insights to impactful applications.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Mathematical models for image formation, restoration, and reconstruction
· Variational and PDE-based methods in image processing
· Geometric deep learning on images, surfaces, and graphs
· Shape analysis, surface processing, and discrete differential geometry
· Computational geometry for imaging and visualization
· Geometry-driven data analytics and manifold learning
· Optimization techniques for imaging and geometric problems
· Applications in computer vision, medical imaging, and 3D vision
Submission Guidelines
We invite original research articles and comprehensive review papers. Manuscripts should be prepared according to the journal’s submission guidelines and will undergo the usual rigorous peer-review process of MCGD. Submissions must be made through the journal’s online system, with a note indicating that the paper is intended for the Special Issue on “Imaging and Geometric Processing”.
· Submission deadline: August 31, 2026
· Planned publication date: October 1, 2026
